Offer sheet value was a 2nd which the Avs don't have. '24 1st will be late and that class is weak. Contract is slightly more than Joseph got from OTT last year when arb eligible and Frederic is coming off a more productive season than Joseph was. Frederic also brings some potential to move back to C, so payed extra for that as well.

Puljujärvi is certainly going to rack up the reclamations.

Haula probably gets more than that and that is a steep price for a guy on the 3rd line. Not super thrilled with the center depth and you need to at least one roster depth guy.

Sorry, but the fact is Newhook isn't ready for 2C yet, and honestly I wonder if he ever will be

Potentially trade his rights or no QO from Boston as they are worried about arbritration elegibility. Several outlets have discussed him potentially moving back to center either in Boston or elsewhere, so he could provide some center depth for us. Might not cost a 1st, but our '24 first is the closest we have to the value of a 2nd round pick.

Might not be. But with the rising cost of acquiring players on the trade market, and lack of quality in the UFA market, it is a possibility that the Avs give him a chance to take the role this season.

i agree that he isn't ready. BUT, it's been 2 seasons and he is 22 let's chill on writing him off forever. last season he was centering like waiver wire pickups and ahlers. He was supposed to center between Landy & Nuke. He was fantastic on JTC's wing during the 21-22 season...still lots of potential there

I like the idea of forcing him into 2C. With healthy and consistent line, who knows what could happen.

Kind of why I put this together the way that I did. Insulate him with Mikko and Lehky and see what he can do with consistent line mates. Bring in someone on a prove it deal to play alongside MacK and Val. I prefer Drouin for that as he and MacK should be able to rekindle some chemistry. Assuming MacK is on board with Drouin coming in. 4th line is a solid checking line that could be trusted in most situations and left enough money to do some creative things on the 3rd line.

I like JP as a reclamation project. If anyone can turn their career around with the help of this coaching staff similar to Val, I believe it's JP. Added bonus is him being friends with Mikko. Will be welcomed into the lockerroom and should give us a leg up to sign him if there are others interested. I like Frederic as a 3rd line wing that can help at center in a pinch. And Haula is really just a place holder for any vet center that could fit at that price range or lower.

Scuttlebut is Kovalenko is coming over after this KHL season, end of March. JP could be a nice add. TF seems unnecessary.

Saw that on Kovalenko as well. With that news, TF is unnecessary. Would go cheap at that spot and turn it over to him in April.
