3. Jonas Siegenthaler is an excellent shutdown defenseman, one of the better ones in the league. Jersey is not going to bench him or bring back Graves
4. Haula is worth about half of that, maybe 3M max
5. Timo Meier is not worth 9M

Hutson could turn into a monster offensively and i really hope he does, but theres a reason he was available in the 2nd round and not taken 2nd overall, and that gap has narrowed but not closed from one amazing year in college. I think Nemec might have been the best player available in last years draft and if you wanted to pry him from the Devils its going to take a serious package to make them consider, Hutson still has a lot of risk associated with him, whether warranted or not,

I'm not saying I would be remotely ok with trading Hutson and the 5th pick from the habs side of things but i think its what would be required to land Nemec.

Not saying Lane Hutson is a slouch, because he’s a quality prospect that every team could use in their pipeline… but Simon Nemec is a better prospect in the eyes of pretty much every major outlet, not to mention the premium generally put on a right handed D

There’s obviously a fair value going to NJ in this trade but it’s very unnecessary. We don’t need to carry Price’s contract, you can shave a ton of money in this post by cutting down the overpays. Haula is most likely getting half of that, Graves isn’t coming back, and Sharangovich isn’t getting 3.5M, not even sure he gets a contract from NJ.

It takes time for a defenseman to develop, Nemec could only be ready for top 4 duties in 2-3 years, if there's injuries he could move up
If he is definitely too good to play 3RHD, they can move Marino on the 3RHD or trade him for something they need up front
