..per Friedge, 32 Thoughts:

“There are some teams here who really think that L.A. is going to take a run at him. We mentioned it quickly the other day, there’s always a surprise team right? Kopitar has one year left on his contract and I don’t know what the future is there, I’m not trying to start anything. I had some guys tell me that they think L.A. is going to take a big run at this guy.”

It’s kind of an interesting spot for Dubois to go for Winnipeg, they have prospects to return at Center rd and Winnipeg could possibly eat the tender contract issue, along with some picks. Especially if winnipeg continues the sale of scheifele and helly, probably be a few years before they near the cap again. Could be quite the blockbuster.

I just don't understand why LA would have any interest in PLD. They have Kopitar and Danault at 1C and 2C now with Byfield looking to take over in the very near future. Why would they spend what little cap space they have remaining on another center?

I think everyone knows that he would like to play for MTL, but with Suzuki only making 7.875M, and Caufield's extension coming right under that, suggests that no one is getting more than Suzuki. So, he's probably trying to find a way to get to MTL and get paid 8.5M at the least, but he might have to settle with playing elsewhere if he wants to get paid like that.

I wonder if they have insight into kopitar taking the veteran minimum or something along those lines going forward after his 10 million is up. Dubois kopitar danault would be quite interesting down the middle.
