Frank Nazar is an excellent prospect that will definitely be a good player in the NHL someday… but with Bedard joining the prospect pool and being an undersized skilled center I could see him becoming kind of redundant. It may be worth looking at moving him in an attempt to secure a player that would better fit our timeline/ prospect needs.
In this scenario Michkov falls as far as the flyers pick before Chicago makes the tough decision to pull the trigger.
Think Philly removes all landline access if he's available at 7.
Would be more than enough any other year, but man Michkov would be #2, closer to #1-than #3, if he was a Matthew instead of a Matvei. All other teams that pass on him other than Chicago are gonna get burned.
If he falls to PHI at 7th, the world is their oyster.
DET among others would be going for him and have good draft capitol too.
I'd agree thats a very good offer, and very tempting for PHI to take, (2 1sts and 2 2nds, all high or mid round), but if Michkov falls to 7th, I think PHI will be getting oodles of calls and might even get another solid pick in there, a future 2nd or 3rd?

HUGE PASS, its not a bad offer but its not enough to be blown away to where id give away a guy who, if wasnt russian with all the ?s, would rival fantilli for the second best prospect and for sure go top 3. if the flyers can have michkov and cutter (after his performance at the worlds) as their top prospects going forward id be ecstatic.
JoeROFL, was it you who was offering the DET package if Michkov falls?
As I recall it was something like the DET 12th, a VAN and DET 2nd rounder in 2023 and a 3rd in 2024 and Zadina?
To which pick; if it's 5, my original idea was 5+31 for 9+17, BUT honestly i don't give two-craps about anything else.
If it's 5 for 9+17+two 2nds I still probably take that if we know Michkov will come over before he turns 25.

If it's for 7OA; I'd be a little more hesitant but I wouldn't shy away from paying out the ass for this kid.

Thanks, thought so.
Yeah, PHI is going to be hard pressed, if Michkov falls to 7th Overall to not take the 9th, 17th and 2 2nds from DET or the CHI offer of Nazar, TBL 1st and 2 2nds, because Michkov's "travel issues".
To fall back 2 spots (or even the 2nd offer of falling 13th spots) to gain an extra 1st and 2 good 2nds and possibly a tad more? Thats a real good offer, and for PHI to have 2 1sts and 1 2nd and turn it into 3 1sts and 3 highish 2nds, thats a tough call

It's a tough call, and through further research on Philly's situation, I'm a little less "Philly will ignore everyone" seeing as their top prospects are all Wingers. Granted, Michkov is next-level, which is why I still think they don't move from Michkov, but I wouldn't be surprised if they do.

Correct.
Cates (a LW) is playing Center, but they have at age 25 or less at wing: Koneckny, Farabee, Tippett, Cates, foerster, desnoyers, brink, gautheir, allison, etc.... not to mention a ton of midlevel prospects like Kaplan, Brodzinski, Gendron, Tuomaala.....
They lack centers, and would take that draft capitol.

Completely true. Given a proposed trade of something like 9+17 for 7 (what I'd realistically hope to not pay more than);
Detroit selects Michkov @ 7,
Philadelphia Selects Moore @ 9 and Danielson/Honzek @ 17
Why do NHL fans consistently seem to think that quantity equals quality in these draft pick trades?
They don't. Not even close. You could have three late 1st round picks and Flyers probably don't do it. They'd rather have the one stud than three "maybe's" (at best).
There's a reason we haven't seen a team deal a top 10 pick in, what, decades? They're just way, way too valuable. Teams aren't doing it, much less for crappy "quantity" returns.

This is assuming that MTL selects Leonard 5.
About right, but PHI would want/probably get more.
As well as the original post being a pretty good CHI offer, theres quite a few teams with stockpiled picks AND/OR some quality youth that would take the delayed "flier" on Michkov

As implied, I'd be willing to almost give a blank check for Michkov, but I wouldn't like it. Detroit still has holes in other places (other Wing depth, RD) and selling TOO much can just prolong the rebuild. It's a case of;
would I rather have an
A++++ Winger
Or
A- Winger, B+ RD, 2x B Wingers
Y'know?

There is a fine line of how much is too much and I'm not quite sure where it is.
