Trades
1.
ARI
  1. Granlund, Mikael
  2. Joseph, Pierre-Olivier
Additional Details:
Arizona probably buys Grunland out but could chose to give him a year see if he maybe (highly unlikely) bounces back, pens save .8 in cap space and get a great goaltender in exchange for a great 2nd paring D man who we can easily replace with Ty Smith. Both Great players but don't have room for both because both of our top 4 RHD are too offensive to play with them
2.
PIT
  1. Thompson, Logan
  2. 2023 1st round pick (VGK)
VGK
  1. 2023 1st round pick (PIT)
  2. 2023 3rd round pick (NJD)
Additional Details:
Assuming Vegas is able to keep hill they get value and avoid the risk Thompson was just on a hot Streak. Assuming Thompson bounces back from Injury the pens get a cheap starting caliber goalie with control and have a great 1A 1B situation if not
3.
PIT
  1. 2023 4th round pick (BOS)
  2. 2023 7th round pick (BOS)
BOS
  1. DeSmith, Casey ($900,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Assuming Boston needs to trade Swayman or Ullmark or lose Swayman on an offer sheet they get a cheap back up who's advanced analytics look better than his stats
4.
PIT
  1. 2023 6th round pick (ANA)
Additional Details:
Anaheim won't be the team just selected the first one because IDK who but somone's gotta be willing to to gamble that he bounces back, could have just been an environment thing in Pittsburgh, he was a top D pairing guy on a cup finalist teams the season before this and its only 2.5x1

Arizona needs more, have to prove to the guys sticking around, that they are taking steps forward and not selling again.

Granlund is a non-starter, he is not going to bounce back and there is no reason to take on his contract to buy it out. Sounds like a Pittsburg problem. POJ was a toss in on the Kessel trade to begin with, had little value then and still has little value. Hard pass from AZ.

I like POJ but adding granlund kills this. POJ + good asset gets veg, I dont see anyone even taking POJ + granlund for bag of pucks. 2yrs @ 11m cash is killer.

I like the UFA names - although probably a bit light on Bunting, Kampf and Engvall.

Calling Vejmelka a great goalie is certainly a take though lol. I'd try to use the extra cap to get a clear number one. There's a lot of risk going on here goalie wise

The Grunland buyout is 800k then 1.8 mil.... its not that bad, and to call POJ a "throw in".... he was the focal point of the deal and is a clear top 4 D man on any team that isn't stuck like we are because of our right side being too offensive. I get if you want to leave Grunland out, but if you don't think POJ for Vejmelka straight up is fair than **** it we pass too. I probably wouldn't give up POJ for Vejmelka without a sweetener anyway

Huh...POJ was a weak pick in one of the weakest drafts and was the sweetener added to Galchenyuk for Kessel trade. He has done well, all things considered, but POJ is far from a primary asset. If you feel POJ holds considerable value then cool but in a trade valuation calculus he is a minor asset. I don't think Vejmelka is considerably more valuable (won't really know until he plays about 100 NHL games) but at present there is a greater value on a 1B goaltender then a 5/6 defenseman.
