I would have said the same pre camp but between the Rust connection, the sully connection, the fact he's working with Sid, and that many media members are saying he's looking good I really think he will now

yea, "find something that fits"
I don't think they put Vinnie their without thinking he's an option and from what the media has been saying it seemed to work, plus the rust connection.
I do believe they'll try other thing but they certainly did not just put vinnie there because he had to be somewhere. Ik we're not supposed to read into week 1 lines but I think we can read a little bit into who plays on sids left wing because of the current situation

Pysyk, before being injured for the umpteenth time, was available on July 1 and the Pens elected to re-sign Smith and sign Butcher and Shea. Even healthy, Pysyk likely wasn’t going to get a contract. He isn’t a terribly talented player as it is and, if the greatest ability is availability, then he’s really not much of an asset at all.</div></div>
I am not saying he's great but we can't put an offensive Deffenceman with POJ and I can't think of any stay at home D man in camp who was a better option before he got hurt

Lynez
I love the idea of giving Nylander a real shot, but 1. he is more comfortable in his off wing and sully said that this season he is going to encourage more players to play on their off wing, so Nylander who is already comfortable on his off wing is almost certainly playing there.
2. He cannot play with Crosby, he has the exact opposite style of game to Crosby's insanely Niche, hard go play with style. Crosby bases his entire game on elite puck protection, and short passes in limited space, Nyland on the other hand likes to stretch ice, and create space for long passes. These simply don't work together, same reason Crosby and Kessel did not work.
I would like to see Nylander start as Malkin's right winger, or Elhars, (I am really conflicted on this because I think Malkin and Nylander could work but I always like to have a center that shoots to the side of the player playing the off wing but I think the pro's of Nylander and Malkin outweigh the cons)

**** I did not hear that, that could be trouble, Ruedal hasn't looked good at all and no way Smith and PO JO can play together. If that is true the only hope is that someone has a cheap young D man who's right handed and stay at home instead of left handed and puck moving and needs a guy who's left handed and puck moving, maybe then a lateral swap for Smith is possible, but I can't think of anyone in that situation.
Closest I can think of is Ottawa maybe being willing to swap smith and JBD if we threw in a prospect or something but I really don't see them doing that

I would say Jospeh also has value, like IK you guys have one of the best D cores in the league but getting a guy who would be middle pairing for almost anyone but us and you guys and makes under a mil opens up so many possibilities, but like we have both said, would not justify making this trade.
And yea, no way we give up EK, you guy have said you didn't want him unless his contract was taken down to 7 mill which we can't do, and even if all this wasn't true, he favored us the entire time and has full NTC

we have 1..... Petterson.... and we don't need one for under 5 Mill we are not in that bad of a cap situation if the rumors are tru that teams are gonna let us pay them to take Petry.
Also, teams do not need to be cap compliant for another 2 months, Vegas could have waited if they thought the market was gonna go up, there are so many other teams looking to move guys, we'll find someone to fill out our D core, if its not Hanifan so be it, it might be more to acquire him than what I offered, but I am certainly closer than you are.
Honestly, if I were you guys, I would hold onto him, market might go up before the deadline, and I would honestly rather go cheap filling your other wholes than lose a D man this good at current trade Value, but until the Market changes, you are not gonna get a first for him.

If and when Graves does sign, and there is a good chance it wont be with Pittsburgh due to demand, then call back with a real offer</div></div>
No, We'd just bring in a RHD who is defensively sound since it looks like we'll actually gonna be able to dump Petry and then use both POJ and Smith. Your not getting a first for Haniffan unless the Market Drastically, and I am DRASTICALLY changes, 1 year of Hanfian is not worth that much more than 2 of Reilly Smith. If you want to hold on to him and go with cheaper players to fill out your roster than that would probably be the smart move, but there are too many teams looking to move good players.

Which is fair, if we couldn't work put a deal Id probably go after Graves, but you would not laugh and hang up, it was a good starting point based off all the other trades that have been made. You maybe right that you need more that is why I said it in the details, but if you thinks that your getting anything significant for him from anyone your wrong, unless you wait till the deadline and see if the market changes

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Marked_Difference</b></div><div>Granlund is a non-starter, he is not going to bounce back and there is no reason to take on his contract to buy it out. Sounds like a Pittsburg problem. POJ was a toss in on the Kessel trade to begin with, had little value then and still has little value. Hard pass from AZ.</div></div>
The Grunland buyout is 800k then 1.8 mil.... its not that bad, and to call POJ a "throw in".... he was the focal point of the deal and is a clear top 4 D man on any team that isn't stuck like we are because of our right side being too offensive. I get if you want to leave Grunland out, but if you don't think POJ for Vejmelka straight up is fair than **** it we pass too. I probably wouldn't give up POJ for Vejmelka without a sweetener anyway

You bailing us out, that's halarious, we're bailing you out, we're taking on Myers. We would never actually propose this trade because it is terrible for us. This years buyout is .8 and then once it becomes 1.8 next year the cap goes up anyway. Ask yourself this question... is Myers buyout was as good as Grunlands would you buy him out? Obviously yes, so just pretend this buyout is for Myers and you will wish this **** was our GM so you could take this and run

It adds 1.8 to your cap for for three years after this one to get rid of 6 million this year and next year and the salary cap is going to go up substantially after this year. You would need to pay anyone else a first to take on Myers, so basically you off load Connor Gardland who you would not have got much for anyway, so basically you get 7 mill in cap space for a 4th round pick, and Potentially a solid bottom paring D man depending on how Rutta's surgery recover goes
