Description

Trade value on Toews still feels light, but that could be evened out with the 3rd party involved in the trade or an additional pick/prospect from the Pens.

Gave ROR a 4th year to drop the AAV to $5M. Additional trades to improve depth D. And gave JP a prove it deal similar to the initial deal Val signed with the Avs.

Left room for Kovalenko to come over in April as mentioned on DNVR.

2 1sts and a small amount of cap space to play with at the trade deadline or next summer to improve the roster.

Retaining 25% for 2 years is a better option that buying him out. His buyout number is 833K, then 1.833M for 3 years. 25% retention is 1.25M for 2 years.

Note: If I use this trade in an ACGM and get a lot of hate I am using this ACGM as my excuse lol

True - I did see you say that. Pens don't have a ton of good prospects - as a lot of people may know. Poulin, Puustinen, or Blomqvist are really the only other prospects I can see that carry some value. Obviously Pickering - but I don't think you want two LHD in the trade. Maybe someone else will chime in on what may need to be added if it's light. I will say though, the Pens may not be able to afford Toews raise next season depending on other factors, so I don't see them giving up too much more for a guy who might only be there for a year.
