Gurianov = Nothing
Heineman = 2nd
Mailloux = late 1st
Mesar = late 1st
Slaf = top 10 pick
2023 - 31 OA
2023 - 5 OA

2 top 10 picks and 3 late 1sts and a 2nd for Fantilli & Comtois. This is your idea of a fair deal?

Leafs decline. They would be trading Murray because they don’t need a goalie with his cap hit, acquiring Allen defeats the purpose of getting rid of Murray

Hawks decline. Nothing in that package from Montreal they'd give up a 3rd for. And Hawks will probably just buy out Zaitsev, so Habs can get him for free if they want him.

No interest from Toronto here. Way better trade options that involve dumping murray. And there’s no need for trade for a new goalie unless it’s a true number 1. They will just resign Samsonov

In all seriousness, you actually think that if you put Heineman, Mesar and Mailloux in a package, you'd get two late firsts and a second? You're hallucinating.

Not today. But maybe next year.

Those are the positions they were drafted, and it's how I value them. I do not expect that return until they make the NHL.

Now come on. You know darn well where players were drafted has nothing whatsoever to do with their value before they make the NHL, or even after -- just think for a minute about how you and your fellow Habs fans value LaFreniere, Slafkovsky, Kakko and Byfield. And we're not talking about a trade that's being made "maybe next year," we're discussing a trade in this ACGM that is being proposed for THIS off-season. This deal is garbage, and to answer your question, No, it isn't close to being fair.

I'm only being strongly critical because I've come to put a lot of weight on your opinion, in large part because it usually balances out the bias of Montreal homers, so I'm surprised that you're so far off base on this one.

I appreciate you as well sir!

My honest opinion is that this would be a disaster for the Habs and they would feel the pain of this horrible decision for years and years. If HuGo allows this to happen, he should be fired.

Mesar was drafted less than 1 year ago, coming over from Europe to NA. It takes time to understand the game on the smaller ice. I need to see his next year before I judge him. Am I dissapointed he did not dominate in the OHL, of course I am. Am I giving up on him? Absolutely not.

Slaf was drafted less than 1 year ago, coming over from Europe to NA. It takes time to understand the game on the smaller ice. I need to see his next year before I judge him. Am I disappointed he did not dominate in the NHL, of course I am. Am I giving up on him? Absolutely not. I am in fact encouraged that he will have a big year this year. If he doesn't, I may start to doubt.

Heineman killed it in Laval in his short stint this year. I also loved him in training camp. I think he'll be a top scorer in the AHL next season until he gets called up. He's one of our only bigger body prospects. I'm not trading him.

Mailloux made a stupid decision. Not thrilled by his continued bad decision making, but he had a great season in the OHL and is a big and rugged natural RHD who has a laser of a wrister, a booming slapper, hits like a truck and skates like the wind. He needs to stop making boneheaded decisions. But I am encouraged that Bettman will clear him for NHL play this offseason.

Not sure if I can clarify my perspective more, but Fantilli needs other players to play with. This trade would be a complete robbery by Anaheim.

I thank you and honor you for having the respectful courtesy to reply at length with your reasoning here. It is a pleasure to read this, which I have already done twice and will probably revisit, not just because it tells me how to think about each of these prospects.

Fight on! cheers
