Heiskanen is the more complete defender and Karlsson is greater offensively. The easy choice is to say Karlsson since he's probably winning the Norris. On the other hand, Heiskanen's production isn't that far behind compared to Karlsson's while Karlsson's defense lags far behind Heiskanen's. At the end, though the one who makes more of an impact is thr better defenseman overall.

Hard to know what EK65 would’ve looked like on a playoff team. He had a very loose leash on a very bad sharks team, but he’s still a top pair guy if he’s healthy. He just might not be a 100 point guy on a true contender.

I disagree significantly, if he put up 101 points on the Sharks, imagine what he'd do on Edmonton with McDavid

Sharks lost more 1 goal games than anyone else last year so to call them very bad is a big overstatement. Quinn’s system has them on a path of success but they just need more goals.

Imagining Karlsson on the same power play as guys like McDavid, MacKinnon, Matthews and you think he gets fewer points? Thats so weird logic you have going there.

Age and contract aside, Erik is more talented, proven. Miro is more well-rounded. Theyre both great hockey players.

Can’t believe how reasonable everyone has been on here.
I agree with everyone
Karlsson is clearly better offensively? Whil Miro is more solid 2 way defender.
But if your asking pure talent Erik gets the nod
Not if you take into account contract and age Miro clearly is more desirable option

He’s been empowered to take as many risks as he would like to because nobody else can do jack **** on that roster. Idk how that would play out with a better team. Not saying his play would necessarily decline, but idk if he can put up those numbers without being the focal point of his team.

Probably Karlsson…but when contract and health are factored in, I’d rather have Miro.

Yeah but what he do if you put him on a wildcard team like the Islanders or Winnipeg? I don’t know that he puts up those numbers on either roster.

Another nonsensical bashing of Sharks players. Do you have a mature argument to make or are you only interested insults and tomfoolery? I have better things to do. Ignore list you go. Bye now.

This is a very fun question for me because the Sharks are my favourite team and I am a Karlsson fan but my favourite player is actually Heiskanen.

It’s a logical statement! Yes Karlsson would have less points but he gets more PPP for sure.

Karlsson was allowed to do whatever he wanted to to get pints in a good team he would have less control over his opportunities. But throat might make him a better all around guy!

I agree he wouldn't put up 101 points w/ Winterpeg or the Isles, but then like I said, he would've put up 120 playing on Edmonton or Colorado imo. We'll be here all day arguing though, some teams he would've put up less, some he would've put up more.

My point was that on an average team his numbers would regress. Sometimes I put less stock in what a guy can do when they r on a really good or really bad team.

Moronic statement

I will concede the typo’s hurt my statement.

on a team that is scoring and in the lead Karlsson would not have the opportunities he had to score and abandon his D game like he did in San Jose.
Sharks depended on his recklessness and risk taking to score the few points they could.
And sharks PP was weak and that did cost him points, but playing to protect a lead vs playing desperate to score would change his game and likely bring him down a bit offensively.

He would still be a plus offensive threat but likely he would be more in the 70-80 point range vs 100+
