Kap is better than Stutzle, eventually Sens need to make playoffs. Kap is a guarantee for that, you have centers that are good enough when there is Brady or Kirill on their wings. You can use DeBrincat to get a younger version of Stutz. Actually, you know, win; utilize having Claude and then flip Kirill for your continuous rebuild.

Losing Stutzle would harm the rebuild. As good as Kirill is, I'd rather have Stutzle any day. Especially at his term, price, and chemistry with his linemates.

How it Ottawa giving up the better player, younger player, player on a much better deal, and also giving up the better draft pick LMAO.
This is something else hahaha

Stutzle just had 90pts as the 1C at age 20/21. He doesn’t have a ceiling and signed for 8 more years. And plays centre. You don’t move him not even for Kap

I think Stutzle is great, So is Keller, so was Eichel, So is Peterson, eventually Ottawa needs to get over the hump and win... Kirill has won every where he has been and one day he will win a Cup.. Tim maybe/maybe not. You have a good young D core, Find a goalie and you can win now with this.

EASY NO on both trades

1st trade : Stutzle is 5 years younger and has 8 years left at a very reasonable cap hit. Kaprizov only has 3 years left before UFA, and it will take a gigantic AAV to re-sign him. Stutzle also is a Center who will become a 2-way force.

Also not trading another 1st round pick. Zuccarello has value for sure and I would like to get him but that 1st and Stutzle are not pieces I am trading

2nd trade : Brannstrom is coming into his own and will continue to rise. Addison can rack up assists on the PP but is a liability defensively. Brannstrom is opposedly becoming quite good defensively

You are 100% right that they need to make the playoffs but subtracting Stutzle and Brannstrom while adding older players and Addison are not going to fix management and coaching incompetency. We finally have new ownership who might do it so keep Stutzle and build around him.

And DeBrincat is not going to return a Stutzle caliber prospect, not even close. One of the youngest players in a long time to hit 90 pts

Disagree, this move would be pretty bad for Ottawa's chances, for reasons mentioned above. Zuccarello is soon 36 and without another 1st in 2024, the prospect pool will get even thinner.

I bet a lot of fans and GMs would rather have stutzle over kap. I don't mean to imply kap isn't great. But stu plays a premium position, is significantly younger, signed on a cheaper deal for double the length. its really not even close. He has 5 more years to even get to the same age as kap is now and stu is not even close to his ceiling yet
Their counting stats are nearly the exact same already and stu is half a decade younger lol .
Would you trade Boldy and Rossi for Matthews and Murray? cuz that is a similar style trade.

Jimmy Stu has 1g less and 15 more points than Kap, while Kap was paid 8M more than Stu. How is he better?

If he is better, why trade him, especially if all he does is win? Can't be for cap reasons, since there will just be 1M diff in contracts. Put him with Rossi so Rossi doesn't become a bust (if he isn't already).

To be perfectly honest, I don't know if I do that trade as the Leafs.
