Canucks would probably do this. Not so sure on NSH

Nashville says no thanks. If Vancouver wants to move Boeser and not pay someone to take him they need to retain around 25% salary.

Johansen will be off the books before Garland, and NSH gets to keep Fabbro and the pick if they just stick with RJ.

Vancouver needs to free up cap space with whatever moves they make. This doesn't do that.

Nashville would have to retain 25% if not more to get positive value for Johansen though

Take the 2nd out and switch Boeser to Myers and it makes sense for both teams. Vancouver gets a 3C and a better fit on the blueline and Nashville gets a middle six winger and the option to flip Myers for picks plus the cap space after one season.

Flip myers for picks? Then why doesn't Vancouver do that?

Oh that's right because he has negative value.

Nashville could either retain on him for this year or flip him at the deadline and get picks for him…

If it's that easy then I ask again why doesn't Vancouver do that?

NSH, not super strong @ C or RD. Here's an idea, let's trade away one of each PLUS a 2nd round pick for 2 more middle 6 wingers who don't help us now OR later... Have you lost your mind?

Vancouver isn’t in a position to retain on Myers but if he’s somehow still on the team at the deadline they will flip him for picks

no you don't get picks for cap dumps they'll have to give up picks to move him

At the deadline with this year being the last year of Myers contract I guarantee there will be teams looking to add him for a playoff run and will pay to acquire him.

And I guarantee you there won't be. Not without heavy retention and probably not even then. 6 million cap hit is way too much for a depth defenseman. There will be far better rentals available and many of them will have lower cap hits too.
