?????? So if Matthews doesn't sign a new contract, why would the Kings give up all of that for a one year of Matthews.
Would be madness to have PLD on that contract (by any team)
Leafs shouldn't be trading Niemela (or Robertson) for nothing.
Way too much for Soucy and Barbashev.

Where is Los Angeles getting the $12 million in additional cap space this exchange would require?

Right now, only Byfield and Kaliyev count against our cap total, which stands at $7.34 million in cap space for 6 roster players including RFA Gabe Vilardi, who will almost certainly consume $3 million of it, and a second goalie. So that's $1.8 million in cap out and $11.64 million in cap in. plus the cap hits of the two roster players to replace Bjornfot and Kupari.

As mentioned, Kings will wait for free agency for Matthews as opposed to shouldering the risk of him walking from Toronto.

Chicago and Anaheim trades seem like a lot of movement to have nothing come of it.

Could definitely do more for your centre depth in this scenario by cutting out that Soucy overpayment.

That's a complete joke of a trade. LA declines that so fast. They will wait until he becomes a free agent and go from there.

Hawks decline. Their only interest in Murray would be to acquire the Boston '23 1st as part of the deal.

As mentioned, Kings will wait for free agency for Matthews as opposed to shouldering the risk of him walking from Toronto.

anyone who imagines Matthews would be allowed to walk has been hitting Rob Ford's crack pipe.
Treliving learned something from the Gaudreau episode in Calgary
no player can be left unsigned and in the position to do that amount of damage to a team

P.S. the Leafs problem is finding value in whatever trade. if the Kings or any other team trades for a top level player, their cap is their problem to solve, not the Leafs
