To all the Canadiens fans; I'm not arguing that it's a great deal and that the Canadiens have to accept it -- I don't think Montreal should trade away Michkov/Smith.

But, that doesn't make it a bad deal lol. It's a fine deal that, with most criticism, is a difference of a midround third.

Easy pass from Montreal. Change 31 to a fourth and we might consider

I will trust Went_Wughes' open over literally nearly any article talking about a proposed trade.
And several Canadiens fans on this website.

Please reformulate sentence. Thanks.

I think he means that he needs writers to tell him what to think about hockey and if he doesn't see any article with a proposal this won't happen.

Dude just stop. Those charts are based on actual trades. And for the guy who said teams don't have draft value charts, wtf. That may be the most uninformed thing I've ever read on this site. You guys just sound ridiculous. Pout some more. Oh also for the clowns saying " this draft is different": the picks we"re trading back are also in this draft so that's another dumb argument.

you fit yourself for those argument as well. Comeback when you will have a chart cuz i've linked one previously. Those picks might be this year but I tell you that if you want to make pick swap you'll be closer with a 5th + 37 vs 9th + 17th than what is offered ( 5th+31th) because tha draft is really something. It your opinion against mine, and I'll be happy to see writers write that in few days.

I trust the opinion of the many (and, if you bother to look at any of my trade-up hopes from weeks back, my very own opinion) over the opinion of a few.

Not really. If you want to go through my comments from weeks ago, any talks about Detroit trading up to 5 is this exact deal. Even if it's for 37OA, thats fine lol. But for you guys to essentially react as if we're taking 5OA for free is absurd.

Not my opinion, the GSVA chart at the Atheltic. I'm not doing simple homework for you. Make an effort to be informed.

that one i've quoted to show that thing might be different is litteraly the one the Athletic based their one. Nice try tho. We in MTL are litteraly reading almost everything written on this sport cuz this is a part of our culture. For those of you who think that 37 is off value as I stated need to read the link i've offered. I even have read link of old essay on the cap market (or team market that were speaking of Vegas in 2009 while everyone was dreaming about quebec) stating about a 2024 season at 92 million cap (there was no pandemy when this was writtent in 2009), the guy now work for IIHF or in finance if I do remember.

You have opinion that the Athletic might be rightful, but I concur that the actual chart is not as firm as you guy think it is.

I can accept that different sites have differing values so doing the 37 instead of the 31 isn't that big of a deal but you originally said we wouldnt be getting either pick. And Steve Yzerman simply doesn't work that way.

I said the charts use historical data to assign values to each pick, the reason GM's don't use these charts is because they have their own internal value systems. Historical data can only tell you so much. For instance take the 5th pick this year, in a vacuum when comparing it to the 6th pick it might only be worth a late 2nd round pick. However we don't live in a vacuum, the difference between 5th and 6th this year is a drop between skill teirs. It also depends on how badly a GM wants to move up or back. The GM can set his own price and doesn't follow a pick chart when doing it. The charts use averages to set the values, if say pick 5 was traded 20 years ago for picks 10 and 56 but 4 years ago the same pick was traded for 10 and 38 the the resulting value will be 10 and 47 but that isn't really representative of the latest trade (10 and 38) which would be the starting point of negotiations, so no they don't use the pick value charts we as fans use, they have their own systems
