Team: 2023-24 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 19, 2023
Published: Jun. 19, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Just throwing out some off the wall ideas. The trades aren't perfect, but the foundations are there for some big moves.

The team gets better goaltending, younger, and cap space to make a move or two at the deadline. It also helps expose some of the younger guys to the big leagues without throwing away the last few years of the big 3.

The Arizona trade doesn't make sense for either side. Cooley would play 3C. Hellebuyck trade likely needs more unless he limits all options to only extending in PIT.

I hate the AZ deal as a pens fan. Cooley may pan out and Vejmelka is a good goalie but i dont see him much different than Jarry. In return we give up our top prospect pick 14 and a 40 goal scorer. The 2nd from az is a good pick but the 3rd from EDM is basically a 4th and the 2025 second will also likely be later in the round. We give up the best players and pick and dont get a lot back.

From AZ, Cooley isnt getting traded they are weak at C, the picks favor AZ but need to offset granlund, pickering & guentzel AZ would take all day. For Pitt giving up too much currently if trying to win now.
