Oof, y'all just got out of the Pederson contract and you want to give Jarry 5x5m?

To be honest I don’t think Jarry is bad. Maybe a 5M x 3 is more reasonable? What do you think?

To my fellow Kings fans, especially oldNYIfan, I obviously don’t want to trade Iafallo or Arvidsson. Especially Iafallo but it’s extremely tough not to when we need to sign a #1 Goalie and resign Vilardi. I would prefer Vilardi over Iafallo. With our salary circumstances it would be near impossible to have a “better” team on paper compared to previous season. Our key for this season is Byfield. He needs to step up big time! Kaliyev needs to have a consistent season, Fiala needs to stay healthy, we have to hope Turcotte can overcome is injuries and develop. He needs to be at the worst a decent 4th liner. Clarke needs to step up and have “Rookie of the year” type season. Scenn and Lucic have to show others that we’re not scared to throw the body. Jarry needs to have his best season of his career. Kopitar and Doughty must maintain last season numbers or better. Vilardi and Kempe need to continue their offensive forces. Moore needs to have a bounce back season.

Iafallo is a great two way player. The Red Wings were one of the worst defensive teams in the league. Both Lizotte and Iafallo can help with that aspect. Both can play decent offense and defense and kill penalties. Iafallo and Lizotte would both be a GREAT fit in Detroit.

That not the issue, it's a pass, wings need to upgrade their top 6, not bottom 6. Wings won't be entertaining this idea or these type of players. Its too much of the same

2 years ago he made the All-Star game, and he has been a starter for a while, so it's not like he isn't worth considering. But to me he seems more like a solid 1B than a 1A on a contender. You definitely don't want to be paying your backup 5m for multiple years, and that is what I think you'd be signing up for with 5x5. If you all are desperate to make a push now, 5x3 works. 4x4 might be even better.

No thanks, you can keep them, if they are so great and much better, no need to trade them, again this isn't what wings need or will do. We need legit top 6 goal scorers, not bottom 6. Our bottom 6 was not the issue. We also aren't going to take this cap hit for bottom 6 players. Honestly trade them elsewhere or keep them

Id like durzi to Detroit honestly, I'd do a pair of 2nds or kubalik and a pick for durzi and iaffalo or Arvidsson maybe.

Iafallo is older, more expensive, and has a career high of fewer points than Kubalik put up last year. The Wings analytically weren't atrocious defensively, but were literally worst in the league offensively.

Iafallo isn't a fit. Someone else can make better use of him.

If I’m honest I’d keep Iafallo. I’m sure the Kings will keep him. Iafallo is a great fit in LA. He might not be the best fit in Detroit, however I’m just curious to see what Blake does this off season to resign Vilardi, get a physical player and a starter goalie. But if we need to trade Iafallo perhaps we can trade him to a team that has better use for him for draft picks and trade those picks to Detroit.

I like Iafallo but we also need goalscoring. I would give up a third for him but that's all. I wouldn't trade Kubalik for him though. I think we could use a defensive forward but preferably one that is more physical. We could sign Hathaway or Acciari for over pays but still be less than Iafallo's cap hit and not give up anything but get close to the same thing with more physicality.
Lizotte is alright, he could be fourth line centre but so could Acciari or someone similar in free agency.
This deal just kind of seems like we are paying to not really get better and take on cap.

I’d rather keep Iafallo than trade for Kubalik and sign Namestnikov. Much more important to the team identity and that shutdown line with Danault.

Jarry would be a decent get for Buckley’s first guy to work with in LA, but I wouldn’t get caught giving him that contract as stated above. Maybe 2-3 years if he’d take it at a lesser AAV. Also don’t need to sign Schenn when there’s other RD to use, especially if he’s just going to be the 7D.

Thanks for the thoughtful shout-out.

I really like your explanation here and your strategic plan. I'm with you right up to Tristan Jarry, who isn't the answer, in my opinion. It will be interesting to see how Rob Blake addresses the problem. The Boston guys are always trading us Linus Ullmark for Sean Durzi and something, so it will be interesting to see whether he's really on the market. I think that we have a sufficient number of quality forwards that we don't have to make all of those moves (two free-agent signings and the Kubalik trade). I'd be happy to get the Edmonton first from Nashville rather than #15 because I think that that's where the LhD prospects will start showing up and I think that's much more likely to be within our reach. But it's clear to me that you're absolutely right, that to solve our roster and cap problems, one of Arvidsson or Iafallo has to go. It's a reality we have to face.
