I feel like somebody beats this offer. Especially since Dallas would likely need Faksa in the deal too lol

I would make this trade, from a Stars perspective. I'm probably as stingy as anyone on this site when it comes to 1st Round picks, but for a player like DeBrincat, you're either giving up that kind of draft capital or top prospects.

Losing Bourque sucks here, but with Johnston and Stankoven still in the organization, it certainly eases the pain a little bit.

Marchment is there for cap purposes, but is just a year removed from a career year with Florida. It's very realistic that he could bounce back next season.

Would the stars do a deal like marchment, faksa and replacing bourque and 1st with stankoven and lets say a 3rd rounder for now , or is stankoven untouchable right now

Maybe I'm overrating Bourque from his Q days but I like this deal

Sens get a 1st, they need one as they botched the 2021 one and traded the 2022 and 2023 ones.

They get a good prospect who should at least be a good 2-way middle-six forward

Marchment helps now, he's not 2021-22 good of course, but is a good 2-way forward, I would much rather have him than Laughton and Flyers fans are asking for 1st+

So this is a good return. If it can get beat by another team, then ok even better

* Didn't realize it was a 2024 first but hmmm, oh well, maybe add a 3rd then

I wouldn’t call him untouchable, but I don’t care for trading any of Bourque, Stankoven, Kyrou, or Bichsel tbh. Especially not for a forward. Subtract Marchie and Faksa and add Cat and Dallas still doesn’t get by Vegas. Dallas needs defense. If a substantial defensive upgrade isn’t coming in, I think Nill is smart to keep what he’s got personally. Which is what I think he will do. I don’t see Dallas doing much this offseason. I think Nill wait to see what young guys stick and if any of the vets rebound before making moves mid season or at the TDL

Bourque is a very solid player. I think a lot of fans consider him movable as we have Wyatt and Stank but I don’t care for moving him unless we’re getting an upgrade on defense. As I said in my other comment, swap Marchie (and Faksa) for Cat and Dallas still doesn’t get past Vegas

Wouldn't freeing the cap space allow the stars to go after Orlov in the open market, and since texas has a no state taxes, they can offer a "lower" number to him than other teams but he would be making more money at dallas. So your defence would be better and your offence as well with debrincat getting in the mix

This trade doesn’t clear up cap space tho… and adding Orlov without dumping other money will make it hard to sign Harley next offseason. Nils as well if he takes a step forward. Which is why I think Nill is smart to wait
