Team looks better and the trades aren't even outrageous. I think the trade to ottawa is even an overpay.

I guess you just missed the memo, Alex DeBrincats agent just said that DeBrincat will only green light Dallas and Detroit for a long term extension. So the Islanders would only be a rental.

That Long Island urge to ship all of their older forwards to NSH because Trotz supposedly liked coaching them.

NSH declines. They're looking to Barrie to help PP2. Pageau and Johnston don't do anything for NSH but use up roster spots that should be going to the prospects who've outgrown the AHL.

I would agree with you if it was just Johnston but JPG is one of the best face-off men in the league and super versatile. If anything he strengthen's your lineup down the middle at a fair price. Plus who is JPG taking a roster spot from Cody Glass??

JPG is just another 40ish point center to add to our our large group of 40ish point Cs (Glass, Parsinnen, Johansen, and Novak if his production backslides). His faceoff stats are fairly close to Johansen, colton sissons is also decent at faceoffs, glass and parssinen tread water at or near 50% as well. Honestly Novak is the only one thats bad at faceoffs.

It just doesnt make sense to clog up the middle more with someone that isnt noticably better than what we already got
    gmgb liked this.

Well obviously not Glass - Pageau's not going to play that high in anyone's lineup. @herzausstein adequately summed it up though. NSH has more than enough center depth, they're just lacking a true #1.

Plus he didn't even mention Jankowski, who's ideally going to be more of a 13th forward this season, if NSH can stay healthy. He played much better than any of us expected, after NSH brought him in. 55.7% on face-offs too, which ain't too shavvy.

might want to recheck this trade....heard NSH is looking for centers. Guess those prospects you mentioned are staying in the AHL

NSH needs an elite #1 center. What do a couple 30 year old 3rd and 4th liners have to do with that?
