Trades
1.
TOR
  1. Ruzicka, Adam
  2. Tanev, Christopher
Additional Details:
Calgary clears a lot of cap space and gets significantly younger on the backend.

Cost to them is 1 year of Tanev who is better defensively than Lili but defenitly doesn't bring the upside of offensive puck movement.

Ruzicka could end up being a good Middle 6 guy but hasn't even had a full season yet. Former 4th round pick.
CGY
  1. Liljegren, Timothy
Additional Details:
Leafs move on from Lili who doesn't play the defensive style Treleving likes. They get Tanev who exemplifies that strong D, clearing out the center of the ice type of play and take a flyer on Ruzicka as a potential Hyman/Bunting type guy.

To get another first round pick?

Am I that far off?

At most Walman is worth a late second (from a contending team). Late second is about the cost to move from 41 to 28.

He's just not available. He's our top LHD partner with Seider and they were one of the best duos in the league.

Wings pass and 0% close, he's our top LD and perfect for Seider as a partner. A late first makes 0 sense here

He was just extended at 3.4M for 3 years and isn't going anywhere. For the Wings he holds a higher value than he would to other teams like the Leafs.

Just a cursory look at Walman, he had a great year on a bad team. Probably costs more than a 1st, even if Det held onto the 2nd.

He was also pretty good last year. He's probably unavailable.

Yes but Walman plays with Seider and they are very good together. So value isn't the issue and if Edvinsson or Johansson play well with Seider maybe Walman traded at the TDL.

Why is every Tor ACGM putting Murray on LTIR? Did I miss something?

Friedman said the Leafs aren't in a rush to trade Murray cause they can just LTIR him.

Makes logical sense. The reason he has low trade value is that he is injured constantly. When he isn't injured he is generally an above average goalie.

So he is currently hurt? I didn't think he was but, to your point, maybe he is always hurt...?

I think it's one of those things were he is never 100% so the team could always force him onto LTIR like they did with Lupul (against his will) or Robidas (if Murray just wants to take $8M and do nothing).

The contract is apparently insured so If it's on LTIR the leafs don't even pay the salary

Well then he could make a stink and say he is healthy enough to play. I bet the Leafs would pay him to keep him quiet.

This happened with Lupul which is why I mentioned him.

He posted pictures of himself skiing and doing activities on vacation to show he wasn't injured.

Comes down to what team doctors say. League rarely goes against them and the PA hasn't historically supported the player cause if they win it takes away salary from other players.

Tanev is too old and too injured to give up Lily. The other trades just don’t make sense.

I would think the PA would be against a player not getting a salary.
