Yesterday it came out that New Jersey is serious about Hellebuyck and that Helle will sign an extension with them. What is a fair return?

If Dubois want's $8.5M+ the Kings will need to shed more cap, because they haven't even signed a starting goaltender.

That's fair. Reports came out that Arizona will be looking at teams to grab players that they don't want anymore. I think Arizona has 30+ mil in space.

Would be insane not to move scheifele if Dubois and helly are going. Need to maximize the returns on all of the assets for sale. In this scenario, Heinola and Chisholm are both lost on waivers as they’d need to clear to go down.

The point is, up the middle the Kings were strong enough to have a playoff team. Do they really need PLD when the center class for next season is very strong and Kopitar comes off the books.

If LA does a trade with the Jets it includes Helle (50% retained) and not just Arvidsson needs to be moved, but Iafallo or Moore as well. Which Essentially moves 3 top-9 players who collectively out produce PLD, I don't see the logic.

You can maybe get Nico Daws as part of the return for Hellebuyck but no way are Devils giving up Schmid considering how promising he looked last season and in the playoffs

Yeah, didn't know what the value is for those 2 guys, so didn't bother trying. I would not trade Scheifele. I would sign him long term and keep him as the cornerstone of the team.

That's a fair point. Just don't know if Winnipeg entertains New Jersey if Schmid is not involved. Helle will be in high demand so just because New Jersey wants him, doesn't mean they won't have to pay a heavy price for him.

I think with everything that’s happened with scheifele and coaches, you have to move him. He’s quit on 3 coaches now, I don’t know how you can keep him. Not to mention being apart of the current issues within the locker room.

My honest thoughts are I don't care who the Jets trade as long as they get better. My thoughts on Scheifele are this. The guy scored 40 goals, you can't just replace that and 2 - 20 goal players don't cut it. His teammates voted him to remain a leader. If there was any chance at him being a locker room problem, that would not have happened and he would've been stripped of that privilege. In all the rumors, not one person ever named Scheifele as the problem that I have seen. I did hear the comments that James Patrick said that he heard through Hayes. Funny thing about that is, Hayes publically came out and said that he would be open to re-signing in Winnipeg that year, so is James Patrick credible? I don't think so, he will also probably never get a head coaching position in the NHL for those comments he made.

Now did he quit on his coach this year? Maybe, but then so did Connor, Wheeler, Ehlers and Morrissey because they were all in a slump at the same time. My thoughts on this, If we have a player that takes a month off to "pout" and he still scores 40 goals. Sign that guy long term and work with him on his so called "attitude" problem.

I think Jets fans are just looking for someone to blame for last year and Wheeler and Scheifele are always the scapegoats. The team made the playoffs, albeit after a massive collapse. 16 teams out of 32 make it, and yet us as fans still want to criticize them. This team was not even expected to make the playoffs at the start of the season.

I have personal connections to the team, and after what I’ve heard I wouldn’t want scheifele or wheeler anywhere near my team.

You mention the team voting to keep him as a leader, they also still considered wheeler the captain Lmfao. What kind of culture has been built in that room? What sort of power do these guys hold over their teammates if even after being stripped of the C they’re still considered the C?

Idk, feels like this team needs a culture reset.

To me, that's everyone's answer right there. Hockey players are a selfish bunch. Have you ever heard a single player come out and name a player in this situation? I get you have a personal connection, and that's cool in all, but only the players know the truth and they are saying it out loud that there is no locker room problems. Everything else is hearsay, and as all rumors do, they take off true or not.

As I have stated on here before, Wheeler's son plays on my son's hockey team. I don't know Wheeler or have any connection to him, but what I do see is if he is available to be at the games. He is always taking pictures with players, parents, willing to have conversations about whatever someone wants to talk about. He is not a person who gives off the impression that he is hard to deal with. His charity work within Winnipeg and for the Children's hospital is remarkable. Just last weekend he was up north with Andrew Ladd at a charity fishing trip for under privileged children. This is something that someone who is not a good leader does not do. You think he doesn't hear what people think about him? Yet he still does things for the community, unpaid and away from his family even when the season is done. That is the character of a man. If that all doesn't prove that he is a leader than I do not know what does, but I bet that is why his teammates still consider him there captain.
