I'd love it *assuming Michkov doesn't weasel his way out of wanting to play for Detroit.

The trade with Detroit seems unnecessarily complicated, why not:
- #5 (8.2) and #37 (2.3)... TOTAL = 10.5
FOR
- #9 (6.3) and #17 (4.5)... TOTAL = 10.8

4 Picks involved instead of 7, same net difference.

I can't see Philly doing this, they are reportedly also interested in Reinbacher and Leonard and sure they're moving up in the back half of the 1st but I don't think that would be enough to get them to move down from 7

I think that's a bit too much to give up for Detroit. If you want to go off that chart, take out the second third and fourth and then Detroit can add a fourth or fifth.

Flyers easily decline there’s no reason for them to move back to 9 when they can get one of Michkov, Leonard, or Benson at 7 and the margin between 17 and 22 is very little where as the gap between 7 and 9 in terms of talent is pretty sizeable. Don’t care what the athletic value chart says.

It was my first plan but DET would pick at 37, 41, 42 and 43 . Ideally you want some space between your picks. Historically, picking 3-4 times in less than 10 picks leads to bad picks (reach).

Depends if they have 2 players in the same tier as Reinbacher and Leonard. If they like for example Benson and Perreault nearly as much as Leonard and Reinbacher, it could be a good deal for them.

I respect and understand your opinion however!

Apparent approx values check out. It would solely come down what each team wants from the draft at that point. That's kind of tough to know until draft day but who knows.

In my opinion habs should just draft Michkov, he is pretty much the consensus 3rd best player in this draft among the scouting community. Here's what Pronman had to say:

"In my opinion, there is a significant drop in ability from Michkov to Carlsson. The drop in talent is equivalent of that from Carlsson to the 18th-ranked player on my draft board. I have Will Smith from the U.S. NTDP closely behind Carlsson, but in terms of Michkov to the next best non-Carlsson/Smith player, that drop is cataclysmic. It’s the equivalent of the difference between Carlsson and players rated as late-round picks in terms of hockey ability. If Carlsson, Smith and Fantilli are gone and you take someone other than Michkov, in my opinion, you are picking a dramatically worse player."

You almost need to consider that if Michkov is available at 5 your pick should be valued more like a 3rd overall pick, off the Athletic chart that would be 10.2, so Detroit almost needs to trade 9th and 17th for 5th and a 4th round pick to really make it worth it for MTL. MTL should be thankful that Michkov might be available at 5, under normal circumstances they would have no shot at drafting a prospect like him.

True, but perhaps Detroit will package 2 or 3 of those to move back into the 1st round as well.

Yzerman was asked the same thing at his presser and it put a big smile on his face and "There is no way to predict that until the draft."

Yeah but good luck getting Carlsson from Columbus. I think you can put together their demands.

Personally I want them to take Benson. If they believe Gauthier is projecting as an NHL center they have a decent amount of shoot first prospect, Benson is such a good passer and is solid defensively ,but isn't a defense first two-way guy, that would look great next to Cutter. Just from all the insiders and mocks this how I believe they'd view it.
