If Guentzel were to be dealt to Colorado, it would be for Toews, not Girard

Avs need a 2C before they even think about high end wings.

Colorado needs a winger, sure! They will however prefer to pick one up without trading away 3 important pieces tho. Guentzel is great and all, don’t get me wrong, but Colorado actually has quite the value in Girard, OC and that 2023 first. I would rather Colorado to go after a cheaper target to fill that top 6 wing spot.

I am sure that I speak for all Colorado fans when I say thanks, but no thanks.

Jake is a nice player, but even before the trade, he is just not what the Avalanche should spend assets on. He is a $6M winger with one year left on his contract. The Avalanche should (and will) spend assets on a 2C.

Even if there was interest in Guentzel, why would the Avs trade a legit top 4 D man on a great contract AND a 1st round pick and a cog in their PK.

This is a bad bad bad trade for the Avalanche.

Too much value for COL to give up. Girard is a quality LD. I doubt they're adding two more pieces to him for Guentzel.

All im saying, is if Guentzel were to be moved to COL, the pens would be targeting Toews and not Girard

Detroit accepts.

Petry isn't waiving to be over 1,200 miles from his family.

Unless Landeskog career is over, There's no way they can afford Jake Guentzel who's probably going to command 8x8.

Tyler Bertuzzi laugh He already turned down more from Detroit to remain there. Try more like 6 x $6,500,000 minimally.

Scott Mayfield will get at least 4 x $4,000,000 and Semyon Valarmov is seeking right around 3 x $3,000,000.

Fair enough...but IF Col is moving Toews, again, they would look for fill their 2C, and would only be moving on if they sincerely thought they could not resign him. Jake G is just not a trade fit.

For sure, COL has bigger needs than a winger, anyway it's not like we are going to move Guentzel haha

Guentzel is entering a contract year. He is a point per game player.

Toews and Girard do not have the point production Guentzel has. If either of them can improve, then it could open up an opportunity to make a move.

Petry being traded to Florida is unlikely. He could be beneficial to a team that needs a veteran defenseman. The Penguins could trade Petry and sweetener to Buffalo for Olofsson and picks. Buffalo has better forwards than Olofsson coming up.

Would it be wrong for the Penguins to acquire a defenseman who clears the puck out of the zone and adds a scoring punch?
