Why would Ottawa trade Pinto PLUS a second for Backlund when Backlund isn't even close to the value of Pinto

Pretty lame offer for Elias Lindholm.

Don't see Mikael Backlund leaving Calgary for Ottawa.

Dallas doesn't need a LHD like Hanifin they need RHD to replace John Klingberg. Doubt Jim Nill is giving up Bourque for a position of strength.

You want a very promising and affordable 22 yr old 2-way center for a 34-year-old making more money than Pinto is gonna cost? and you also think OTT needs to send 2nd as well? Wow, hell no.

You really don't know the value of Pinto. This is WAY loop sided to the flames, Dorian would be fired for even trying this trade.

Assuming Backlunds next contract would be lower than what pinto is asking for, not sure ottawa can afford pinto or have room for him moving forward,

Pinot would be someone Calgary probably asked for

He will get a bridge deal and then sign around 4-5 mill long-term once the cap goes up. OTT will have cap space the crunch isn't that real. Even if they do sign debrincat to 8-9 M per long term (Which I am not in favor of, would rather have Bertuzzi at 5.5x5 as reported is the asking price via TSN)
After next season the cap is going up 5-6 mill and the Sens will have over 3 M in dead space from retained salary and buyout penalties coming off the books.
They don't run into an issue until they have to sign Sanderson long term.

Also trading a 22 yr old on the rise for a 34 yr old player that even if he keeps his level of play is how GM's get fired.

I'm over all the Lindholm to CBJ trades. I don't think his age and contract status are a fit considering what the asking price has been. CBJ should stand pat, draft their guy, and only jump back in the trade market to offload a couple extra guys like Peeke and Roslovic.

Roslovic doesn't want to play in Canada though, He already forced himself out of Winnipeg. Unless Conroy can get the 3OA pick from Kekkalainen. Pretty sure he can do better elsewhere.

Agree, backlund could help that group defensively if they want to win now too with new ownership don't think it would be a bad acquisition for them.

yea 3OA pick seems pretty rich for Lindholm, think if he's traded it will be underwhelming if 30a is what is being expected as return value.

Yeah the 3OA pick is a total pipedream for Lindholm. Probably would need to toss in Hanifin and another piece for Jarmo to remotely consider it.
