I intentionally overpaid because prospect values are sketch at the best of times.
You're gonna have to explain the Jets saying no. They're blowing it up and that is fantastic value based on a similar trade

A couple late firsts and a cap dump don't get Ehlers

Based on what, exactly?
Because I have precedent supporting my case

Ehlers is probably around the 5/6 least likely to get traded on the jets, I would take this trade and try to get something better, possibly upgrade the 23 pick and ehlers to a lottery team would be ideal for me. But value is interesting, retained wheeler fit in Toronto to expand it?

No. Cap reasons and pure old roster space reasons.
Besides the Jets locker room has been cancerous for years. Don't want to import too much of it - especially from one of the main voices

Fair enough, will be interesting if he gets shipped retained or bought out. Jets seem to think they can pivot on the fly and keep ehlers/Connor/morrissey happy, I don’t see it, I sell everyone with value, burn it down and draft it back.

Based on not wanting to trade him. Especially for pure late futures and a cap dump. There's just no incentive for Winnipeg. They'd have to beat the odds by a large margin just to break even.

No incentive. In a year where they're blowing it up. Sure

I see, you're starting on the wrong premise. They're not blowing it up.

As I said, when you're giving up a player you don't need to in a deal that only benefits the other team and you have almost no chance of breaking even, why do it?

Trades just don't work like that. Teams want to have some benefit if trading a key player.

And the benefit is an accelerated rebuild for a player they only play 16 mins a night

Because the fan base would riot and then storm True North offices and carry Cheveldayoff to the perimeter highway and kick him out of town. There is no intention of blowing it up.
