Trading picks for a draft 2 years from now and a prospect going nowhere for an elite NHL goal scorer is not really going "all in".

This trade does nothing for Ottawa so they would decline.

Considering what Sens paid to get him, no, you’re right it doesn’t. But the way I value him, that’s all he’s worth. A guy like that is basically invisible in the playoffs. Just not big enough to make that huge impact, during season yes, but not playoffs.

Nope it doesn’t… but for Buffalo, you bet it does go ALL IN, ESPECIALLY THE HELLE TRADE

The Sabres are not overpaying for a rental player. The trade for Hellebuyck can proceed with less assets returning to the Jets.

I don't think you are using "worth" properly. Debrincat is worth a lot but Ottawa has no leverage so we won't get a good return. that doesn't mean he's worthless. Also Debrincat Played 9 playoff games. 6 pts in those playoff games. So you're kinda wrong there.

Lol a jets fan would be mad at you for that comment. HELLE is one of the best goalies in the league hands down. Easily worth that if not more. Sure he’s a rental technically but for a team like buffalo to re-sign him. That’s worth something

Lol what playoffs you looking at? Ok, let’s go back 6 years or whatever and grade a player lol. Yes he’s a great player and puts up points in playoffs, but in a pressure situation he’s not better than Marner and the leafs are. So that’s kinda where I’m going with that yenno?

Jets fan can get over it.

Smart Sabres fan would make appropriate payment with few assets to rent the player for one season, then tender an extension before free agency next offseason.

Connor Hellebuyck is looking at New jersey long term, fat chance i see him signing long term in Buffalo.

And zero chance of DeBrincat taking $7,500,000 long term in Buffalo. try more like 8 x $8,500,000 if not slightly more.

Elliotte Friedman mentioned that the Devils would be a team that he's willing to sign long term with. Buffalo is going with Devon Levi long term. Kevyn Adams already mentioned that.

The Sabres should not be shopping for a goaltender externally any way. The tandem for the 2023-2024 season is Luukkonen and Comrie. Levi will be good. He needs a full season with Rochester for good development.

lmao these are always really funny to me. “I’d trade this very small amount for this player” “that player is good and will get a bigger return than that” “no I think he sucks” “then why do you want him” “shut up he sucks now trade him to my team”. I also find the claim that he’s “invisible in playoffs” to be VERY bold considering it’s based on… just… the vibe you get? because its obviously not fact or evidence based

I think if I was DeBrincat, I would've taken the Buffalo deal instead of the Detroit deal.
