Would rather have Nemec over Smith and Moore. Too much risk with Michkov.

Also, am big believer in Holtz. Lane Hutson had good season, but his value as NHL prospect isn’t close to these other guys.

I am also a big believer in Holtz, but I think Hutson is comparable. I probably do it if I knew I'd get Michkov.

Michkov would be tempting. But I see it as two premium assets for one premium asset and one wildcard.

(Also, just personally, i love Hutson as NCAA player. I watch a lot of BU…attend Beanpot most years. Other than the power play, he doesn’t really do enough to distinguish himself from Fensore (or guy like Mike Koster) to deserve being in top-rung of prospects. Hockey East was pretty weak this year…there is no way Hutson would put up the same numbers in deeper conference like big-ten).
pretzelcoatl and Tintin liked this.

Devils probably decline

Nemec for 5th I probably wouldn't do, and I wouldn't do Holtz for Hutson. I don't think he translates all that well NHL wise, and regardless a PP QB who'd be on our PP2 and not good defensively doesn't fit in our team

I thought I would say no as soon as I saw Anderson but the other pieces will be cost controlled for years. Anderson is overpaid but you live with it to get the other 3 pieces

Tkachuk - Stutzle - Giroux
Greig - Norris - Batherson
Roy - Pinto - Anderson
Crookshank - Kastelic - Joseph

The other teams' fans might screech, but these aren't bad for the other teams. However, they're terrible for the Habs. The Sens aren't getting anything more than that (or better) for DeBrincat (and if Habs don't want Michkov because he's too small, why would the Habs want a similar player at 10x the price?). You're giving up a first-overall pick after one season for a #3 who has been in the league 7 years and has yet to crack 70 points? The NJ trade simply comes down to whether the Devils are happy with their last first-round picks or if they'd like a do-over (not sure why they would want that unless they really believe in Michkov).

If there was salary retention on Anderson then it could work longer term

DeBrincat is a much better player but he's also going to get paid

So you basically replace DeBrincat at 8.0 by Anderson at 5.5 (but less term). For Beck, Roy and a 1st, I think the downgrade is worth it. DeBrincat is not really a need for Ottawa anyway. Anderson would bring speed, physical aggression and forecheck as well as a few goals. Then focus the rest of the fowards on 2-way play

All depends on the health of Norris I guess. We really haven't had a chance to see the top six at full power.

Top three - leave them alone.

If Norris is healthy and Batherson can get back his form from before the Dell incident then I think anyone could really fit in the 2LW. I would even test Soko, Greig, Crookshank or Jarventie if the other two are in top form.

We're almost screwed if Norris can't come back at 100%. It would heavily lies on Pinto and Greig shoulders. 2-way centers who are great defensively and can score 40 goals are not easy to find. Pinto and Greig will also be great 2-way forwards but can't see them scoring 35+ goals. I think Greig has Jaden Schwartz potential and Pinto has Phillip Danault potential

Tkachuk - Giroux - Stutzle
?????? - Norris - Batherson
?????? - Pinto - ??????
?????? - Kastelic - ??????

This is what we should not "touch" in any circumstances. Now you insert Greig (but 2nd or 3rd LW?) and Joseph (3rd line RW or 4th line LW//RW?)

I unfortunately don't see Formenton being back (he would be so needed damnit)

We need 3 forwards. One should be a 4th line physical winger (better than Gauthier hopefully, or we just bring him back)

The other 2 need to be good 2-way middle six forwards. Guys like Schwartz, Gourde, Bjorkstrand for example (or Nick Paul, Connor Brown lol)

I totally agree with the lines. However I have seen many ACGM with Norris moved to LW to mitigate any further shoulder issues, in which case I would put Greig 2C as a solid 2-way Center.

I agree on Formenton, he was an amazing speedy asset and I think he would be an awesome winger for Pinto. On the hockey side it's a shame he can't play, but worst case scenario - he shouldn't be allowed to touch a puck ever again.

Brown would be a good add on the other side of Pinto, but injury issues and a high price tag may keep Dorion/other at bay.

4th line I MIGHT try Joseph again, but my patience for him has run out. I'd like to see Gauthier come back and maybe put Soko in there and just have an absolute Unit of a 4th line. Just huge rough and tumble, fast guys to tire the other team.

My idea of fun anyways.

It's not a puck Formenton shouldn't be allowed to touch ever again... But it's not about hockey, it's more about the privileged life of being a NHL player. Access should be closed to him unless his name gets cleared

If it would help Norris to stay healthy then I wouldn't be opposed to that. Norris-Greig-Batherson would be very interesting

Brown as in Connor Brown? Can't see him working for Dorion again (Brown was apparently pissed after Nick Paul trade, which makes a lot of sense as to why he suddenly asked for a trade)

What's wrong with Joseph? Bottom-6 is not about offense. However, you can't see his utility as Dorion messed up everything again. We probably had the worst bottom-6 in the entire NHL

Kastelic and Gauthier sure but Sokolov is not fast or agile enough to "tire the other team". That 4th line would get destroyed defensively me thinks.
