Description
Here is my “honest approach” considering the landscape of what other teams maybe up against and practical. Would love a trade partner for Granlund but I think we buy him out worse case. We keep our first in a loaded draft - and use a few young assests for win now younger players. I like Pettersson but not his contact and I think someone like Gustafsson or Soucy could easily replace him.and with Cap going up, and Carter off the books. We could do 7M for Hanifin extension

TB doesn't consider this especially if Colton is willing to sign 3.25 they can go as high as 3.7/3.8

They have allot of guys to sign but you maybe right. We can match as I left money on the table. I’d say this is a 50% chance - so agreed a little far fetched. BUT if they move him - this is the kind of deal they’d get - maybe a 3rd and a prospect like Poulin - former first rounder

Tampa declines. Any trade likely starts with POJ. POJ+O'Connor/Nylander/Puustinen for Colton+Fleury+CHI '24 4th might be something Tampa considers if Colton was available(ge shouldn't be).

2 NHL ready pieces TB doesn't give a s"""about picks Poulin and POJ probably does it with a very small add by TB 5th/6th

We’d do POJ+ Puustinen for Colton and Fluery - no pick

Ty Smith might be worth a 2nd to someone, but it's not Anaheim.

That is definitely much more in the range for Tampa. Interestingly enough, when I've had this discussion before with other Pittsburgh fans, some were more willing to part with O'Connor or Nylander before Puustinen. I think Tampa would be good with this though, unless another offer blew them away.

Some Pittsburgh fans only see offensive upside and don’t know real Hockey. Drew us an excellent young Bottom 6 player. Puustinen has some flair and skill, but he’s not a regal NHL top 6 talent and he’s small. Not saying he can’t make an impact at a price, but his size and defensive game are big question marks. Drew is a perfect developmental bottom 6 and is already an NHL player

Yeah, which is why I think Brisebois would push for him given Tampa's position. Not saying it would be a deal breaker, as Puustinen definitely could make the jump this coming season, just that DOC seems like the exact kind of player that would be an ideal fit on the 3rd line with Paul and Jeannot.

Yes for sure. From Pitts end they will be hard pressed to get rid of Drew as he can move up with injury and is still cost effective and young

If DOC wasn't an option, I think Tampa.would.pivot to going for either Nylander or Puustinen. Nylander.of course has the proven NHL experience that Tampa might want more, but perhaps they would have Puustinen higher. If no O'Connor though, I'd guess it would be one or the other+POJ for Colton+Fleury as the primary base.

Yep, cap situation sucked. It is a low second in deep draft but I figured a second would do it. But he’ll do well in CO. Sakic is on it!
