Ross Colton for broberg

Created by: Jukinators
Team: 2023-24 Tampa Bay Lightning
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 26, 2023
Published: Jun. 26, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I’m this scenario I have Tampa losing both killorn and Colton. Most of the ACGM have Tampa either trading colton and keeping killorn or keeping colton and losing killorn. But the scenario where both players choose money over loyalty is a very real and possible outcome.

Broberg- the best option for tampa and the fact Edmonton has made him available gives me all the hope that JBB will look at a potential trade for him. Slot him in at the 3rd pair and allow him to play a similar role to Sergy when he was under hedman and mac. He will cost 850,000 for 1 more year before he becomes a rfa and JBB loves trading for RFA’s.

Kampf- a player Tampa couldn’t afford if either colton or killorn return but having him replace bellmare on the penalty kill is major as kampf if one of the best penalty killers in the leauge imo. He has killed this team when he was in Toronto and could definitely be a great add for the playoffs

Miles wood- miles wood has been a player Tampa has been interested in for a while now. Whether that be the trade deadlines or off-season miles wood has been a Tampa style player for a while now. Here he gets a bit of a pay decrease although after tax it may be close to his previous contract but either Way he does not deserve a raise. Whether it be tha fact he was a healthy scratch in the playoffs or the underwhelming point production the past year and so. Miles gets the second line wing slot and Tampa banks on him to bring that physical and speed aspect of his game that we all know.

Other 2nd line wing options:
Tatar- I think Tatar is definitely the player type needed on this second line. A play maker who can help get stamkos the puck to score and yet put up a decent amount of goals himself. If he were to sign I would think it is around the 3.5-4.1 million dollar range. I believe if he wanted to win and be a top option on a contender Tampa could be perfect for him as he most likely will battle for the net front spot on the power play with hagel

Kane- Kane is only a option due to how good of a play maker he is. I personally wouldn’t want nor do I think this is a possible option but it’s more of a general player type Kane fills

Miles Wood decline, not enough money & terms
David Kampf decline, not enough money & terms
Antti Raanta decline, not enough money

MTL decline, they don’t need more forwards & TB are probably better sending Colton in the west

EDM decline, they need Broberg ELC, they are cap strap

NSH decline, need better assets for taking Myers contract

EDM isn’t trading Broberg just for the heck of it. He’s only available to upgrade the roster not futures.

1. Miles wood easily accepts this.
2. Kampf could probably get a little more
3. Rantaa, put any goalie with a glove and blocker in the net and I’m ok with it doesn’t need to be rantaa
4. Montreal was the team I chose because they had multiple 1sts but could probably use a nhl ready player as they are just wasting away contract years for their stars but may team with extra picks could work
5. Reports show that broberg is available for trade and most likely because they won’t be able to afford him next year and want to get extra value for him with a year still remaining
6. If Nashville doesn’t accept that then JBB would simply just call another team that will

I have offered colton to them but they can’t afford him. They can’t afford Yamamoto either which s why he is a trade target. They revive a 1st a 4th and a prospect for broberg and can use that to add at the deadline or trade the pick on draft night

Colton + for Broberg is completely moronic move which is what this is it basically comes to Colton MacArthur an Chicago's 24 4th for Broberg Utterly horrific asset management. I f-ing hope Brisebois is FIRED of he does this. TB needs a LD that can actually defend that eliminates Broberg.

They can afford their current roster. The reason why Broberg and Yamamoto are rumored to be available is to upgrade the roster. Yamamoto gone would provide the cap space and Broberg would provide the value.

im sorry but broberg is a perfectly capable defender, he has struggled getting touches on the puck with edmonton because they play him in a limited role and their development staff is not nearly as good as tampas not to mention having hedman as a mentor, broberg would be elite

they cant run it back with the same roster, with bouchard making 3.5, kostin at 1.25, mcleod at 1.75, and lavoie at 850k they would be 1.5m over and only have a 21 man roster, for sure foegle and yam are gone, prob ceci too if they want an upgrade

Doesn’t have to be Nashville exactly more of just any bottom tier team looking to take on minimal cap for picks

Never said that but waiting for that development right now for a really good asset is utterly stupid. How many top 10 picks become Nail Yakapov Brett Connelly Zach Bogosian Luke Schenn, Mario lerocque

I do watch him, I have watched him since he was in sweden, his stats even prove it but if you dont believe those which sometimes I question that stats too, I dont really know what to tell you, he pushes up when he needs to and plays the man very well, I would love him on tampa

Bottom tier for Nashville is harsh. You only had one more playoff win than us this year, and it was in a series against the Leafs no less.

We’re retooling, but I don’t see Trotz going full rebuild on us. I wouldn’t be interested in taking in any cap

we had 2 wins... and lost 3 in OT from bad bounces, NSH is clearly in a rebuilding selling their assets why would you deny that?

Is it though? Tampa traded drouin who put up Great numbers in the nhl with Tampa before getting traded for… what’s that? The 9th selection in the 2016 nhl entry draft Mikhail sergachev… who was then slotted in the 3rd pairing and has played in the nhl ever since getting better and better every year. Didn’t this team just sign that guy for like what? 8 more years. Your right tho because we only made the ECF that year so it’s definitely not a win now move

No your totally right, it’s not like you guys just retained half of a 8 million dollar contract for a guy who is 29 and put up 0 points in 11 games last year

My bad on the wins number, but I don’t think a rebuild is what’s happening here. We sold at the deadline, but the kids came through. There’s no need to go full scorched earth when you already have a young, solid corps of players. A retool in an attempt to add another high round next year is the best course of action. Allows for the development of our young players, while also giving us an opportunity to find the to end talent we need. I don’t see this lasting more than 1 or 2 seasons. Tops.

The Johansen move was obviously clearing cap for something, which leads me to believe we’re gonna be buying on a big time asset.

Drouin was gone it was just a matter of return . If you remember that year correctly Palat, Killorn, Johnson and Drouin Ll needed new contracts and after refusing assignment and going home like a little B**** everyone knew Drouin was the odd man out. Again tell yourself whatever you need to make this assinine trade sound like a win for TB. Just remember lying to yourself is still lying. TB needs a shutdown defender not another offense first guy.
