Your thought process is flawless IMO. That plan would acheive short term progression without a doubt.
I wonder, though, what salary both Konecny and Pionk will ask in 2 years with the new salary cap. They might want more than 8mil.
In that scenario, either you pay them what they want or you let them walk.
Barron, Harris and 2 firsts for 2 years of Konecny and Pionk is catastrophic. A risk to evaluate.

Thats a massive price tag and i dont think that solves the problem you illustrated in the description. Id rather keep Barron and the firsts and be a little more patient then run the risk of making that many assets for players that arent locked up long term and may walk when the habs are actually coming out of the rebuild in a few years.

Thanks for the feedback!

I feel like, even tho these offers are risky for MTL, it is what both PHI and WPG are looking for in terms of value - since they are not in a rush to trade either of them, they can be patient and wait for the right offer to come by. I also think Konecny would probably settle for a 7 850 000$ contract, like Caufield did, if he fits and produces really well with them. He would be a nice fit on that line IMO. For Pionk, I can't really see him asking for more than that either so I feel it's pretty safe.

Don't see why Habs would make any of those deals.

Since MTL got Mailloux and other good young assets in the system, I feel like they can part ways with Barron without a problem.

I don't think the Habs are in a slot to take on such a gamble in trading assets this early. Though I'm not against the TK trade for the Flyers I think it would be way too dangerous for the Habs.

the fact they have Mailloux is all the more reason to not over pay for a offensive RD who is not a first pairing dman.
