God, I hope these are false reports but I’ve now seen on multiple outlets that the Detroit Red Wings have a “handshake deal” in place with the Ottawa Senators for Alex DeBrincat.

There are a number of red flags with these reports namely being that we don’t typically hear about things Steve Yzerman is doing until he’s already done them.

The other is that multiple “caveats” have been place on the would-be deal such as, an unnamed specific prospect available to OTT at 17 still needing to be on the board and also an extension in place for DeBrincat.

I also saw a report that alleged Detroit could give up as much as #17 pick, BOS 2024 1st round pick & Zadina. I would literally throw up if that happened.

I don’t want DeBrincat at all, I hope this is fake.

Can only find "I don't see him anywhere but Detroit," with no specifics on the deal.

You can't POSSIBLY not want Alex DeBrincat more than I don't want Pierre-Luc DuBois.

Yeah, no source, reputable or not, has posted a "handshake" deal. Yzerman doesn't work that way anyway, most of the league won't know what happened until DET puts out a press release.

Yep, not a reputable source on the return. And why would Yzerman let OTT hold him up waiting to see if a prospect is available at 17 before pulling the trigger (and potentially missing out on other deals)? Sounds like spitballin' to me.

My brother in law showed me the MSN article initially because I had just told him this morning that I was dreading the possibility of us trading for DeBrincat so when I saw the link he showed me, I told him it was a fake ass article.

Then later on I came across the detroitsportsnation article which had some specifics included which was alarming to me even tho it seemed far fetched for the reasons I mentioned but the fact that I just don’t want the guy honestly even if he was a free agent, I wouldn’t sign him, has got me a little twisted today.
