At this point what is valuable about him? The fact he had one good playoff run 2-3 seasons ago? Since then he's been injured an essentially bottom pairing, he would be a great bottom pairing guy but that's it. If we are going by the same logic which makes Edmundson valuable then wouldn't Campbell be worth his contract?

Hawks decline. Dont think they trade Murphy this season unless it's for a significant overpay. This isn't that. Good offer but the pieces aren't right for the Hawks.

Then why propose the trade? Yamamoto is a cap dump that Montreal doesn't need and Tullio is an undersized winger prospect that Montreal doesn't need.

Like, even if Montreal thought Edmundson was a cap dump (and they DEFINITELY do not), they'd be better off trading him at 50% for literally nothing instead of your Oilers package.
