After the Hayes trade Philly isn't using a one of their last two retention spots on Krug's contract for only a 3rd

So let me get this straight... you want 6M retention from the Blues and 10M retention from Philly, and you only want to pay a deferred 3rd and a 4th pushed off FOUR years? And of course, free Krug.

Gonna need to try again, dude. You expect way too much subsidization.

I think it’s a sign that no one wants him at that contract. I personally wouldn’t give up a 3rd and 4th for retention.

I mean it when I say you could make his salary $3m AAV over 4 years at his age and I’d rather have Mike Reilly at $3m for 1 year. He has a use, but there is a reason St Louis wants out of his contract. Just keep him. He seems to want to be there

Panthers aren’t giving you Loustarinen for a guy you had scratched in the playoffs. I’ll take him for a 3rd though

Philly literally just tried to take his whole contract. Regardless, nobody is going to retain anywhere near those amounts for the lint out of your pocket.

Where they doing it for free? Or were they being given a pick for it and getting rid of an overpaid defenseman at the same time.

They also traded for Cal Peterson in exchange for a very good defenseman prospect and a 2nd rounder. You think LA fans convinced themselves into believing he had value?

Maybe someone values him at 50 percent retention. I don’t. It’s a pretty simple solution. Keep him. He wants to stay there

Hahaha what??? First of all, nobody said it had to be free. Regardless, there's a whoole big gulf between free and 16M in retention. Secondly, are we really pretending Sanheim has zero value?

Peterson is irrelevant. And nobody asked you to take his whole contract, it's not even your AGM. We just had a team wanting him full contract, so to sit here and declare that nobody will take him full contract is demonstrably false.

I think Sandheim has value at a cheaper price just like I think Krug has value at the right dollar figure and the number 1 pick was the compensation for the relative difference, If you’d like, I can say that no competitive team that he’d likely accept a trade to was offering something that Philly valued over doing a different deal.

I bring up the Peterson trade because Philly took one of the worst contracts in the NHL for prospect and draft capital. To me, that’s all they did here.

Either way, Boston is the wrong team right now. They have this one year cap issue to deal with and then return to normalcy next year with their financials

I agree he's presumably not going to Boston. But Philly has made it perfectly clear they intended to acquire him to lead all the young players. They weren't just doing a favor for goodies. They assigned value to him. Obviously most teams will not. But the notion that nobody will take his contract has been debunked now.
