Trade Deadline
I don’t think you can retain on more than 3 trades but the Bruins would probably take Bonino full price if you take back smith

Heard it hear first - bruins are interested in McDavid, as is every team. Get the rumor mill churning!</div></div>
What exactly do you think trade rumors are then?
I’ve heard some rumors the bruins will be signing erik haula last offseason—but you can never be too sure!

There’s been rumors that they will, and with time running out before Eichel’s NMC kicks in, they may have no choice
Or you could just remove the retention and one of the picks

It’s just the recently leaked offer that was rejected by the Sabres, but with Kravtsov and Jones swapped out for Chytil and Lundkvist (who the Rangers reportedly don’t want to move, but will likely have to if they want Eichel)

I wouldn’t mind him there but I was hoping they’d be able to negotiate something lower than his QO. Oh well, they have plenty of cap space

Clears cap to pull Kucherov off LTIR for next regular season. Plus a high pick is much more useful to a cap strapped team, they could easily get a 2nd-line player (Kent Johnson would likely be available at #8) on an ELC with that pick which helps them avoid a major cap crunch.

What should happen
Honestly just wanted to get rid of two out of Lauzon/Zboril/Clifton so that they aren’t lost through waivers, I’m sure another team would play a similar price for either player but Reilly/Hakanpaa are a much better 3rd pair and the Bruins will have the cap

How the draft probably plays out without any trades
Really enjoyed the detailed write-ups for each prospect. I agree with most picks, but as a Bruins fan, I’m hoping they grab Raty if he falls to #21. I’m confident that their development team could get him back on track towards becoming the 1C he was projected as only a year ago, and since the Bruins’ best C prospect has only played RW at the NHL level, it’s an area that’s severely lacking in quality young players.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Billy739</b></div><div>That's like saying "dont select Matthews when you can draft a Lefreniere , Hughes, Dahlin or Hischier "
Petterson in his 1st three years in less then 10pts shy of a Point Per Game Status on a team that just terrible with bad ownership , worse management and questionable Coaching.Imagine what he could do on a real team with Resources and Ownership to make Aggressive moves.
For the 2nd time in NHL history an Owner has come in paying a Kings Ransom to get the best possible players available in the Expansion.
Unlike years past Brand New Teams making the Playoffs or even a Conference Final isnt unheard of.
As long as Petterson doesnt get any form of NMC
This deal benefits Seattle a Lot short term and does no harm Long Term in any light despite the high cap</div></div>
More like “don’t select Pettersson when you can draft Draisaitl, Matthews, Crosby, or Ovechkin.” That’s the level the next few top picks are gonna be at, and it’s not worth throwing that away even for a young 1C like Pettersson

Don’t think that’s a good move for Seattle. If they’re in the lottery mix in 2022 or 2023 they could get Wright, Savoie, Bedard, and/or Michkov, all of whom project to be better than Petey

Which Combo Works Best
As a fan of neither team it's probably Robertson+ for Vilardi, or maybe Robertson for Kupari 1-for1. The Kings are pretty set on the right side with Roy/Walker/Grans/Spence (and Doughty until 2027), while Robertson would probably be their second best LHD prospect behind Bjornfot

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hockey_Nerd</b></div><div>Bruins were reportedly very interested in Ekman-Larsson before he signed his new deal. I'd imagine with them in need of a left handed puck moving defencemen now that he'd be their target. DeBrusk would be a good starting piece in that kind of package.</div></div>
Their biggest issue rn is definitely scoring. Before half of their starting six D got hurt they were a top 5 team in the league defensively, I think a cheaper pending UFA defenseman would work out better for them

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mokumboi</b></div><div>So wait... you think the Blues would boost their PP by trading Schwartz away to gain Ritchie (to say nothing of the monstrous gulf in their 5v5 worth)? I find it hard to believe anyone could imagine this trade is reasonable. Which is odd, because the other offers are at least in the ballpark or better.</div></div>
Admittedly any trade involving Ritchie would be an attempt to pull the wool over another GM's eyes, so to speak. No, Ritchie isn't very good at 5v5, but maybe another GM that values power forwards and whose team needs help on the PP could be convinced to swap one of their middle 6 forwards for Ritchie. To be fair though, Schwartz is likely to walk in the offseason and the Blues would still get a decent prospect and 1st out of this trade, as well as the opportunity to keep Ritchie beyond this season if he plays well.

With an all offense no defense guy in Krug on the left side they did not want another in Chabot. They talk the shutdown guy instead. I did not like it but it was not crazy.
Boston was not drafting a center with those picks with Bergey and DK in their prime and locked in their top 6 roles for years.
Only pick that was way off base was Senyshyn. Should have been Boesser.</div></div>
Yeah, Connor isn't THAT much better than DeBrusk. I'm convinced that if you took away Scheifele and Wheeler, replaced them with Krejci and Kuhlman/Kase/all the guys they've tried at 2RW the past few years, and asked Connor to actually commit to playing defense, he would be a 35-point player. Vice versa if DeBrusk got set up by Scheif and Wheeler and was told to just go out and score goals then he would probably put up 40
