    Recorded an above-average p/g mark (for defensemen) in each of the last three years and was an elite shutdown defender... that's a rare commodity. I mean sure it's not on the level of Nylander but it's not that far off

    nah we cant. 24-25, no chance. We have like 6.5 million with Skjei, Pesce, Aho and Necas' deals. Add in Jarvis' bridge deal too.

    Yes, we can... I ran the numbers and ended up with about $1.5m of cap space with the Nylander Contract after filling out the roster.

    I kept Martinook and Chatty ($2m deals each)... I think that Fast is going to get massively overpaid in the off-season by some other team

    yea unless you are way underpaying skjei, pesce, or our goalie tandem is the worst and cheapest in the league, that money isnt there.

    Skjei gets $6.25m and I dealt Pesce to the Leafs for Nylander, brought up Honka to fill that 3RD spot (who isn't an RFA until 24-25), and Allocated $5.5m for 2RD
    Kocketkov ($2m) and ? ($3m)
    The cap is going to jump a whole lot... I just gave the Hurricanes a whole lot of space going into this year

    the cap will only jump up to 87.5 million unless the players agree to take more escrow

    From what I've heard it basically a done deal that it's going to be 87.5m cap next year

    No you stop it... Come on... Nylander has 1 35+ goal season and you suddenly act like he is some elite goal scorer... he's not. I think that the original offer is a little too much in Carolina's favor but it's not egregious

    You're just ridiculous. You ignore his lockout shortened season where he was on pace for 45, and casually gloss over his 34 goal season as well. And just keep saying "Pesce is elite shutdown" build him up into a Norris winner and now here you are inferring Nylander isn't as good as he is because that helps your case. The difference between me and you is that I am not dumping on Pesce, I am calling him what he is. A 2nd pair 20-30 point defenceman. That isn't equal to a point per game elite play driving forward. End of debate
