Canes pass. Pesce > Brodie

Necas and Nylander are so close in value, and without an extension, I'll straight-up argue Necas has more value. RFA on expiry, 3 years younger, only 20 points less, half the salary this year. Why is Carolina adding? Awful

So SJ get's a cap dump, Robertson who's always hurt. a 1st and Niemela to retain $16 million on EK. I don't see why the sharks would do that

CAR doesn't accept that trade. This is how they will see it, they are giving Necas+a 1st for Nylander which is too much considering the latter's contract situation and Pesce > Brodie and is younger as well.

I would assume nylander extension in this deal. Pesce is better than Brodie but I guess assuming they deal him because he can’t be signed then Brodie is a good replacement for the year.
Nylander is older but has a longer track record of producing points, i think his value with an extension is higher than Necas.

At 7.5m a year, I don't see many teams out bidding this offer.

Karlsson at full cap - No teams would touch him
Karlsson at 9.5m cap - I think 1-3 teams may take him for free
Karlsson at 8.5m cap - A team may pay a 2nd round pick for him
Karlsson at 7.5m cap - this is where I see his value increasing quite a bit. 1st + good prospect is fair. Which they get Niemela + 1st here. Lets say Robertson and Murray cancel each other out.
Karlsson at 50% retention - I think a team would pay ALOT for him here. BUT it sounds like Grier doesn't want to do that. I think that's the wrong move.

I could be wrong and I am open to that possibility. But if you are expecting more than this, I think you will be in for a surprise.

Still an easy pass. Would rather just re-sign Pesce and Necas than downgrade and have the misfortune of giving up a 1st to do so. Comical.

I don’t really understand why Hayes only got a 6th and was half retained but deals are weird right now with cap space tight. Hall dumped for essentially nothing as well.
Now I know karlsson is much bigger asset than these guys but San Jose gets real assets. There’s not many teams that can pull off a karlsson deal that he will approve so the return might be a bit underwhelming.
