I don't think that gets you Hellebuyck, but you're close. Remove Vanecek and Seamus and add Holtz & Schmid. I honestly think that is fair value, but New Jersey probably needs those guys more than Helle. By the way, New Jersey is my 2nd favorite team so I would rather them just not be trading partners because both will have to give up talent.

In all honesty, I like Casey more than Holtz but for the forward depth I think Holtz is more important, and it needs to be Vanacek for the cap to work

I hear you. For us the problem is Vanecek is not very good and we need to still be competitive. Seamus is small, and while we need RHD, we do not need small guys. The Central is a big tough division and what we learned since Buff left is, if you are too small, you get pushed around.

Send Vanecek to Philly. Their GM has no clue what he is doing. He will eat the cap.

Vanacek gets a bad wrap tbh, Right now he's better than schmid and he's going to be a .915 goalie for a long time. He's not going to win any vezinas but he's going to give you slightly above average goaltending for a long time
Cory and Tintin liked this.

You may be right, but Schmid I think has the potential to one day be in the Vezina talk. Vanecek will not. It's also about having team control.

How about we just keep Holtz and grab Sorokin next summer. The organization has absolutely no desire to move on from Holtz. They had every important person in the front office/coaching staff in his exit interview. They want this guy playing with Hischier and Bratt in the fall.

VV won the Devs 32 games this year, most of them in that crazy run. Although it's a VERY small sample size his #s were close to Shestys. He's not Shesty for sure. I think he got overplayed and had nothing left for the playoffs. He stole a bunch of games we didn't belong in. A little more balance abd I think we're fine. I want Helle but not for what's left in contract, his age, what he wants going fwd and what the cost will be. We are ready fir a deep run, a vet d man to ease Nemec in and maybe a G like Saros (but not totally sold on that yet). Saros would be Holtz, our 1st in 25, Casey, and another piece. And as noted, Holtz is staying. I'd do it though for Holtz with less adds if possible
