Reinbacher is really good. They should have grabbed Michkov but by the way Grier talked about Matvei last night it sounds like he purposely set out to get picked by only a couple teams.

What did Grier say? Any video or quotes from an article?

Full quote:

The Michkov thing, it kind of is what it is. We had some concerns,” Grier shared. “He’s a special talent on the ice, there’s no doubt about that. Super-skilled, can do things a lot of other players can’t. But there were some things that we weren’t completely satisfied with to be able to take someone with a fourth-overall pick.”

There was a lot of speculation that he only granted 2-3 teams an interview. He really wanted to basically choose where he went.

No they absolutely do not. Anderson and Savard + the EK retention the Sharks cap hit goes UP for 2 years (from EKs 11.5, to the combined 12 mil), and then Anderson + EK retention you're essentially paying him 8.5 for the same duration of the EK contract. Then all you're getting is a 1st in 3 years from now when MTL should be half decent and a bunch of 2nds.

This is terrible.

Retaining that much, yes they will. And it's not exactly the return that's awful. It's the fact that they barely get any cap relief which, Newsflash, is the entire point of dealing him if the return is lukewarm

It'll cost money to dump Anderson's contract. So they're likely losing one of those 2nds. No one wants a 30+ year old grinder with mediocre offensive upside at 5.5 mil

It wouldnt cost anything to dump Anderson. Hes not a cap dump. Wilson is reportedly going for a 1+ so Anderson should be able to get at least a high 2nd. Maybe even more since Wilson will be paid more than the 5.5m Anderson makes now

When you make 5.5 mil and top out at 32 points a year, you are a cap dump. Horrible contract and horrible stats. Come on man that is common sense.

Theres more to stats than just Points. Hes a 20 goal guy who was top 30 in the league for xGF/60. Playing on a team that stinks and doesnt play the system he would fit

Have you seen the recent trades? Much better players with less term on better contracts are being traded for pennies. You'd be lucky to not have to pay to move Anderson. The winger market is busted.

Gorton's NYR 1sts: 1 Laf & 2 Kakko we're concensus/cursed picks, 7 Lias Andersson sad, 9 Kravtsov sad, moved up for 19 Schneider & 21 KAM bold, 21 Chytil solid & 28 Nils Lundkvist too small.

Top 30 for xGF/60 on a garbage team but no offensive upside ok
