Description
I mean technically it works, but is it realistic? Or does someone need to be moved for a little more breathing room?

22-man with 250k in cap seems awfully tight

This is under the assumption that it's a 1-year for Gus, Reaves doesn't return, and no immediate trades with the defense

Lol thanks but no thanks - he has a full NMC and he's the team's best defender.

I'd be shocked if we did anything but nothing. Would be nice to clear some cap but with Goligoski refusing to move his NMC and the unlikelihood Foligno and MAF will be traded, that only really leaves Merrill.

I'd love to find a way to get Nylander since we could actually afford an extension for him next year, but it's almost impossible to fit him in this year.

I'm not 100% sure but I think Shaw is going to get a new contract but I thought I heard it will be like a ATO and will be placed in AHL for awhile to get physically ready and get some games before actually signing a new contract. So I would think the cap space would be alittle higher maybe enough to bring up another ELC player. And hopefully by the time Shaw is ready we will have accrued more cap space or it could be around the TDL and someone could be gone by then freeing up more space.

No I agree, but that's kinda my question - is nothing even feasible?

What I have here is essentially the bare minimum and it's pretty dang tight. I know it technically works, it just seems like it's gonna be really difficult to manage 82 games this way, if they truly do have playoff aspirations. Idk see how it's gonna be anything other than constant plug-and-plug, 11-7, etc. as injuries pop up.

I do have Shaw signed here and put him on the Taxi squad, so he's not impacting the cap .

It's just to depict exactly what you mentioned, but with what's shown here, his 775k is not being counted.

I have the 3 QO players at a combined $5.4m, Faber in the lineup, and a 21 man roster for next year. So that leaves $2.7m cap space and 2 roster spots to fill.

I think GMBG signs a UFA FWD for $1.25m or less in the first couple of days of free agency. So that is $1.5m in space and 1 roster spot to fill.

I have Rossi penciled in to make the team (he's setup for failure because he doesn't fit well anywhere in the lineup) and a different ELC eventually takes his spot. Either way it's $900k to fill the last FWD spot. So that is $600k in cap space left.

-Best case would be Gus for $3m and Duhaime and Addison for $900k each and that would open up an extra $600k. MN would have $1.2m in cap space and they run with a 22 man roster instead of 21.
-Worst case is Addison and Duhaime for $1.2m each and Gus for $3.6m and that costs an extra $600k. MN would be right at the cap and Addison is a PP specialist that bounces between wing and d-man as the team needs.

I really dislike the MarJo signing. Its too much, too long, and a full NTC. It should have been another $1.1m x 1 deal or at most a $1.2m x 2 deal. (I think Boldy should have been a bridge deal too, but that's another can of worms.) I think a Rossi/JEE/Boldy line would work, at the very least it's the best chance for Rossi to not be setup for failure.

I just see the FWDs as a strange dynamic.
-JEE and Kap are the 2 best FWDs on the team and are fine up and down the lineup.
-Zucc needs to be with Kap.
-Boldy can't be the best player on a line.
-MarJo has to be the 3rd FWD on a line.
-Rossi isn't good enough to be a 1C, and doesn't fit/work as a bottom-6 grinder.
-Freddy G, Foligno, Duhaime are bottom-6 FWDs, but not higher in the lineup.
-Dewar is a cheap 12/13 FWD.
-Hartman is the utility player that can play anywhere in the lineup, but Ideally he's a 4C/3RW.
