Dumo had a REALLY tough year in Pittsburgh due to injuries. Hopefully he can stay healthy and get his game back for the Krakens sake

I like the gamble

Decent 2nd pair defender. He has injury concerns, but a half decent contract for free agency.

He'll do well there, Seattle is littered with ol' Penguins. Hope the best for him! I'll miss ya Dumo <3

Dumoulin is probably ticketed for the bottom pair in Seattle to fill Soucy’s shoes. He’s a defensive defenseman who should provide some penalty killing ability and hopefully will rebound a bit if his injury issues from last season are behind him. Overall I think he’ll be a decent stopgap option for the Kraken until Ryker Evans seizes a full time role.

Why wouldn’t the Kraken just retain Soucy instead of signing Dumoulin to this contract?

Because Dumoulin can play more quality minutes at a lower AAV?

Dumoulin played his way out of Pittsburgh with bad defensive play over the past two seasons. He could fit in as a third pairing defenseman for Seattle.

The Penguins' defense improved significantly with Dumoulin leaving.
