Description
UFA/RFA Signigns:

- Zegras & Terry: I feel like the Zegras number is close to what I would expect him to get if they go the long term route. Terry's number could be a little low but I'm really just guessing.

- Drysdale & Dostal: Jamie gets a bridge deal before signing long term in a few seasons. Dostal slots in as the backup for the next few seasons. Could potentially be slightly higher on the AAV.

- Foote & Mete: Foote fits what GMPV is seemingly targeting. He's a young, big defenceman who still has something to prove in the NHL and can come in on a relatively cheap deal to try to really establish himself as a full-time guy. Mete is another decent D-man to play on the Gulls right side and potentially step in if injuries occur.

- Offer Sheet (Lafreniere): This is probably something that won't happen, BUT for fun I went ahead and tried to put the Rangers in a tough situation considering they have just over 6m in cap space with Laf and Miller still to sign. I think Miller could be looking to get paid after a pretty good year and if Laf signed this offer sheet, it would be hard for the Rangers to sign both. We also would only be giving up a 2nd rounder for compensation. Alexis could get more ice time on the Ducks and potentially earn a raise after a few "prove it" years. Fits a need on LW for the Ducks as well with Comtois exiting.

- Trade: Most likely a deadline deal at this point. Henrique could be a nice piece for Minnesota if they are in the playoff race again. There is also potential he could resign there the following offseason depending on what he wants to make. On the Ducks side, retaining 50% yields a solid winger prospect and pick.

- Roster: This roster has a good balance of youth and veteran presence. I see this line-up as much more competitive and a step up from the past few years. Also, the cap projection for the following season still allows Verbeek a lot of wiggle room to tweak it even further. The Ducks would have another 26m in cap space to work with the following year and can use it to pay some young guys coming off entry level deals soon (i.e. McTavish, Drysdale after his bridge, etc.).

- Much love to anyone who reads all that & Go Ducks!

I'm with you on everything and I think you're close enough on the numbers.

Given our weakness at RW, I might find Kakko more appealing than LaFreniere.

Yeah I wouldn't mind him either! Much more likely than an offer sheet lol

If I’m offer sheeting anyone it’s Bouchard. EDM has cap issues and Bouchard is gonna be a top pair D if he’s not already. It’d cost at least a 1st 2nd and 3rd but he’d be worth it and the ducks have extra 2nds and 3rds next draft anyways.

Not trading Ohgren straight up for Henrique. Let alone adding.

You want a winger prospect from Minnesota for Henrique retained. One of Firstov, Guskov, Lorenz or Milne.

I'd be ok swapping Ohgren for Firstov.

I like all of these moves. I think Minnesota values Ohgren pretty high so I’d say Firstov might be a better equal ground.

Besides that and a few lineup changes, I like it

I'd definitely consider Firstov and the 3rd for Henrique retained at the deadline.

I'd definitely say our valuation is high on Ohgren. He is considered to be a A-level prospect with high-floor low ceiling potential. Specifically, he's a surefire 3rd line guy with a decent chance at maybe being a 2nd-line guy. He's also expected to come over next year.

Firstov has never been considered anything more then a B-level prospect at best. His decision to more or less quit Iowa and leave for the KHL ticked off the Wild front office no end. He had a great year in the KHL, so power to him, and there was some talk of him potentially coming back next year. But he decided to stay in the KHL for now. He may look at the Ducks roster and find it more appealing and a easier chance to make the roster. So who knows. 🤷‍♂️
