No thanks from Calgary. Nothing particularly interesting there

Take out the 4th going back to Toronto and the Hawks probably accept. They might be willing to take Brodie, but they aren't paying anything for him.

No go for the Hawks.

Attaching a 1st is the price move Murray’s contract which means you have the Hawks trading 3rd and 4th round picks for. 33 year old Brodie, a player they don’t need. On top of that, the two Leaf players being shipped to Chicago are owed $15.5m in actual $$ for the upcoming season. It would take at least two 1st round picks for the Hawks to even consider your proposal and even that may not be enough. Oh and the Leafs would get FC.

Hawks are still short players on the backend, Brodie is a fine top 4 defense man who would certainly garner interest at the TDL for Chicago's sell off - I'm not dumping nor are the Leafs interested in dumping Brodie. I gave the Hawks Brodie for a 3rd and paid a 1st (dropped about 90 spots) to dump Murray

Yep. I totally got your thinking on the trade. And Brodie is a good player. But the Hawks seem committed to playing at least two if not three of their young LD (Vlasic, Phillips, Roos, Kaiser) this season to see what they have. That's why they didn't qualify Caleb Jones or sign a D man in free agency. That's why I said the Hawks MIGHT be willing to take Brodie, but they wouldn't pay anything for him. If the Leafs are looking for a return on Brodie, probably need to pull him out and deal him elsewhere. Some team will give you a pick, it just won't be the Hawks.
