Kempe is signed up longer and for his cost and production is the better contract, I don't think I'd do this straight up (if the Kings had the cap space)

Kings should prefer three seasons of Kempe's productivity at 50% of the cost of Marner plus the 50% chance that they can re-sign him over two seasons of Marner plus the zero percent chance that they can re-sign him . . . never mind the first-round draft pick.
