I'd dislike this if the ducks weren't supposed to be utter dog sh*t so those 2nds are basically a late 1st and a 2nd. I really do not hate this

Depending on how things play out, Skjei for futures could work. Sounds like Pesce is out the door.

Question for Ducks fans - would they get in on a EK trade where they would retain some salary for 4 years? Any idea of how much that would cost?

I don’t like us trading for DeBrincat, at all. Too expensive to acquire and also to resign completed to what he has produced (if he still wants that 9 million dollars)

Trading a good prospect and 2 2nds for a 30 year old rental isn’t the move right now

I’m now against trading for Murray since he is owed 8 million dollars this year, the buy out window is closed, and Anaheim oooo rated on an internal budget

I’m big no thanks to that — we need defensive defensemen, not offensive

Contemplated a Nylander and Murray deal vs Debrincat but I think Cat will sign for less than has been out out there where as I think Nylander could actually get 10m.

Sure Murray is expensive but it's not my wallet. Not sure if retention impacts that $ figure.

Skjei was the missing LHD to help solidify the D. I suppose I could say 'he will re-sign' but who knows! Though that was a potential option given the abundance of D in Carolina.

Just having some fun to see in a year's time if Anaheim could be competitive.

Again, why take a lesser return than Mrazek despite Murray being better with less term? Or just buy Murray out?

LaCombe is definitely a valuable piece as well. Maybe even more so than the 2nds.

Because Murray has a 2million hit next year after he's bought out, and this is the YEAR we need to pay MATHEWS, and hope to Resign Beruzzi and DOMI...... TORONTO ACCEPTS

I appreciate it brother.

I don’t like either of a Nylander or DeBrincat trade for Anaheim honestly

I think Forbort could be a better add for free as a rental

It’s been around a 72 million budget for Anaheim in recent years is a huge reason why I said no to the Murray deal

Yes, Forbort is definitely underrated as a bargain trade piece.

Then get Carrick in return? Why not take a second instead of Carrick and a 3rd?

Carrick could go right through waivers or Holmburg sent down. He's a depth piece should TO have any injuries.

The cap's supposed to go up by 4m... + If you don't want to buy Murray out, Why not get a second instead of Carrick+3rd?

I think that if this trade fell in your lap, you just take it, and praise Jesus. Thats why.

I know, but I also really like the idea of going into next season with the cartoony D core of Slavin - Burns Skjei - Pesce, Orlov - DeAngelo

But, wouldn't the second become more useful come TDL?

If TO could pull it off another way, sure. I just think Dubas set this up for a hell of a time for the next GM (saw that and bounced) and Treliving is doing his best in the situation.

No, because asset managing is something the Leafs should get better at... And taking a lesser return than Josh Bailey's cap dump isn't very good asset management

just put Matt Murray on LTIR for the season. League doesn't have any rules with LTIR and he'd be happy playing and getting paid 9mil at the same time
