That isn't how you deal with cap issues. You actually have to pay for them.

I'm pretty sure the LVK are cap complaint once they LTIR Lehner. They won't be able to accrue cap during the year, but they're atleast compliant.

Hawks decline. Even if Martinez would waive to Chicago, taking on $10m in cap hit this season plus Lehrer's second year costs more than a 3rd. Howden and Blackwell is kind of a push.

If Lehner is LTIRetired, then his contract should be priced more like Seabrook or Voracek - essentially nothing. Martinez would play in the Hawks top 4 and is only a pay-to-move asset because of the Knight's situation.

Is Lehner out for sure? I have not heard that. I've got no issue w/ Martinez. If he's willing to be a Hawk - great. Don't feel the same about Lehner. He's a cap dump from Hawks perspective. Vegas pays market rate to move him, which is more than Martinez and a 4th.

I mean the Lehner part isn't necessary. Realistically it's Martinez with a 3rd for FC, plus a Howden for Blackwell swap, that composes this move. Lehner was a valueless throw in in case the Hawks trade away pieces at the TDL and need to reach the floor. I'm pretty sure he's out for this season again.

With Lehner out, Hawks probably accept as originally proposed. Lehner was the hang up in my opinion.

The problem here is that the Hawks have no incentive to take on Lehner’s deal. Seabrook was traded for Johnson and 2nd, the Hawks got off of his contract so they could take on Johnson for an asset. Voracek seems like he’s not going to play again, so that just helps the Yotes hit the cap floor. Those incentives don’t exist in this deal. They’re taking on $15 mil in cap over 2 years for a 3rd. It’s just not worth it.
