He was. There was a "bidding war" for him. At least as much of a bidding war as there can be for late bloomer NCAA prospects.

His rookie season in 2017-18 was a fluke and was mostly a byproduct of Taylor Hall's Hart. Since then, his defensive lapses have been exposed. He's too small and too slow to be effective in the NHL.

Ty Smith is the next Will Butcher. Been saying that for years. Now they're teammates and competing against each other for the 7th D spot.

Lol I was just going to say, not long ago this guy was one of the most saught after dmen in the league. Then he just fell off the face of the earth. Glad Pittsburgh grabbed him, should be a nice fit and such a cheap add to the team!
