So they have to give Nylander away for half his value and add? Come on

Usually, when you're in a pickle you have to make moves you don't want to... trading off Nylander for a not-so-good return might be one of those moves and the Hurricanes thrive on deals like these

Half his value? The leafs are getting a 70 point 24 yr old RFA and a legit top 4 d man for Nylander whom is not going to sign after this year. Lily equalizes the Necas vs Pesce. You could argue Lily + Willy but Necas being an RFA makes a huge difference in value and you likely have to add because of it. Not to mention him being 3 years younger than Nylander.

Yea they are, but why would the canes bail them out by trading both Pesce and Necas. I mean I guess the 5th makes it worthwhile.

This trade would look pretty silly when Nylander doesn’t sign and walks as a UFA

Got a feeling the trade would look similar to Tkachuck for Huberdeau + Weegar and pick

Nylander would go in a sign and trade

Pesce is a UFA, he also just walks.

The Hurricanes can actually afford him and he slots better. 40 Goal scorer, 80 points and controls the pace of the game. Slots well with Carolinas identity. Liligren being in the trade equalizes the UFA vs RFA of Necas and Nylander.

Unless it comes with a reasonable Nylander extension and your drop Pesce... I wouldn't touch this trade

It is similar but not quite . Hub was older and played on a very offensive Florida team. Going from the leafs to Carolina is likely a more linear transition and you can expect more of the same from Nylander.

Nope look at what Tkachuck went for thats the trade

Necas + Pesce and Pick for 8 years of Willy would probs be the deal as there is a tweet highlighting there arent many players last season who were more productive than him.

Not really Nylander is way better than Necas. Necas up until last season gave u under 20 goals and less than 50 points

Nylander gives u over 20 goals and 80 + points in a full season rn and is a playoff performer with 40 points in 50 playoff games

Carolina would be getting a serious upgrade in terms of goal scoring with him thats for sure.

It probably won't be Necas or Jarvis... it'll probably be Pesce+ a good prospect+ 2 1st's for 8 years of willy. I don't see the Hurricanes giving up Necas for Willy. It'll be futures + Pesce... they aren't going to give young roster players for Willy

The only issue is he is a UFA. Thats why the value is off, Necas is 24, a RFA and also had a breakout year. If it is something the Hurricanes explore they will likely get a young D man in return because if Nylander agrees to a 8.5 x 8 or 9 x 8. The leafs just sign him and keep him.

Thats why u do the same trade as how Tkachuck was traded sign and trade

He goes to Carolina 9.5 x 8 years and Carolina sends back the package mentioned.

The leafs are in win now, its the only thing they would even show interest in. Thats why this trade is quite close in value , whether the Canes entertain it is another story.

Then Toronto would have no interest. Like PLD Toronto wants useable stuff not futures

Necas + Pesce + 1st for 8 years of Willy would be the ask

I still think a piece needs to go back to the Canes. Willy for Necas and Pesce isn't the same trade cause willy is older than Necas and Necas is the RFA.

Leafs fans have to stop

The Canes do NOT need to trade for Nylander who has stated he expects 9-10m a year.

If they make an offer it won’t include more than one current roster player.

Pick a different team to try to bail you out

The Hurricanes probably won't entertain it because it closes our window by a few years by trading Necas... I believe if it's Pesce+Picks for Willy with a reasonable extension then the Hurricanes might bite at it but the hurricanes probably won't trade more roster pieces than Pesce or Skjei for it

But here's the thing Willy is the better player

Its not like Chucky for Huberdeau where Chucky was the better player in the deal

Necas might have had a one off season whats the guarantee he almost hits 30 goals again. Willy has been a consistent goal scorer getting 20-40 goals a season thats why the deal would be structured in that manner as if u look at statistics not many players have outperformed him since his draft.

That is an absolutely insane ask for a team with no leverage... you guys are in cap hell and need somebody to bail you out and no team will do that without a sweetheart deal

Um did u not watch the playoffs your team couldnt score in the semi's and if yall are planning to move Pesce and add scoring hint hint who you think they gonna target

Rn they got 2 choices 9mill Debrincat or 9mill Nylander. Canes have been linked to him since his first negotiation in 2018.

And this isnt bailing anyone out lul this is 2 teams making a deal not one team taking more salary than another as if Toronto and Carolina made a deal Toronto would be the team taking more salary as Pesce + Necas = more cap than Nylander rn.

Here's the difference between the Flordia-Calgary trade and this trade... THE LEAFS HAVE NO LEVERAGE... they have no cap space and are far apart on Willy's extension... they are going to have to give a team a sweetheart deal to ship him off

Toronto has all the leverage in the world. Look what NYI gave up for Horvat

Did Van not have leverage? Horvat was a pending UFA playing out the season and what he get

A 1st + High B low A level prospect and useful player.

Would suggest researching before saying as there will be teams biting at the bit for Nylander.
