The Lindholm value is fair. The issue for CBJ is the cost of his next contract and how that affects their ability to re-sign all their young guys upcoming. Management will likely be looking to give KJ, Marchenko, Fantilli, Jiricek long term deals over the next 1-3 years.

Boston does not have the cap space or the interest in Backlund to be able to take both.

They’d try like hell to find a way the make both Noah and Lindy work but i doubt they can.

Swap Zboril for Grizz add another piece, Lysell maybe, swap Backlund for Lindholm and both extend. B’s move Forbort in separate deal….maybe. A lot to unpack.

Ya totally agree, as much as Columbus would love to reunite Lindy and Johnny they have a lot of young talent coming up the pipe, going to cost keep.

It's too bad Bruins don't have their 2024 1st, that would help a little.

This doesn't help the Leafs get better now... something Treliving is trying to establish by signings and trades... Nylander for a 1st+injury riddled, bottom 6 forward, prospect and someone at a position they don't need doesn't get Nylander... especially when other teams are offering Necas or Holtz +...

I don't think Bs have much interest in 34 year old Backlund. if they're giving up Derbrusk Poitras and a 1st they probably targetin Lindholm with an extension.

Any Nylander to Flames deal starts with Lindholm or Hanifin, nothing less. Even more so with an extension for Willy.

Just because this site has convinced you leaf players are worth less then what they are in reality, does not make it a fact.

I just don't see how that's fair value. The 1st is obvious, and then pick one of Boqvist (plus a 2nd probably) or Sillinger. As proposed, this is a bigger return than Meier got at the deadline.

Besides, the need for Lindholm just isn't there any more, with Fantilli already signed and Jenner, Roslovic, Voronkov, and Sillinger already on the roster (and Kuraly on the 4th line). It's a weak center depth until Fantilli and Sillinger develop, but in 2 years it's possible Lindholm is the 3rd-best center of the group, and likely that he's 2nd-best. Calgary isn't dealing from a position of strength, Columbus isn't desperate, and that return would suggest both.

Well, the need only really exists if Sillinger is being traded for Lindholm as an upgrade. There is also no way Jarmo makes that deal without contract extension talks having taken place with Lindholm, so it's a little different situation than with Meier. Values always go up at the deadline too because cap hits are prorated and teams have a better idea of where they stand, both roster-wise and in regard to the playoff race.

Also, I know I'm not alone, but I'm really not sold on Sillinger working out. I could see him figuring out because he has a great work ethic, but I'm really leaning towards believing he will end up being a bust. The skating is poor and so is the ability to anticipate the play. He has to have one or the other or he's always going to be behind the play, which was painfully evident last season. Skating speed is also extremely hard to improve beyond the age of 12-14. I think he is what he is as far as his skating ability goes, so time will tell if he can learn how to process the game faster and still turn out to be a decent middle-6 center. The drive and puck skills are there, so he certainly has a shot.
