Blackwell replaces Granlund in the lineup at a cap savings of 3.8M. Blackwell would probaby be moved at the TDL for a 3rd or 4th round pick, so PIT upgrades that to a 2nd and adds another 2nd to dump 2 years of Petry's cap hit.
Nah, Colin Blackwell does not make this team better.
This is why i'm not super interested in moving for Karlsson, his cap constraint doesn't allow the pens improved the bottom 6 (unless they get a third team to retain).
Focus on moving Granlund/Rutta/Desmith and they can improve the bottom six with that relief, and add a 3rd pair Dman.
Fair enough. Just wanted to give you a cheap veteran forward to fill out your lineup and since you would still be tight against the cap with the Karlsson trade,
I also think it will be diffiicult to ask any third team to retain a substantial amount of EK's cap hit for 4 years. So I figured by moving Granlund and Petry you'd get about the same cap savings if a 3rd party retention were done. Honestly San Jose could and should retain more than the $3M I showed.
