You left your 2024 first out of the Six Million Dollar Man Matt Murray cap dump.

10000% yes. Honestly the 2nd would have probably been enough.

I'll answer for Leafs fans: he's either going on LTIR, or bought out. Option 1: extra cap if the team is even close to the ceiling. Option 2: $687,500 this year and $2,000,000 next. That doesn't cost a 1st, it might not even cost a 3rd.

-Explain how Calgary can take on an extra ~$3.5M in cap space in this deal when they only have $1.475M in cap space currently. I'd also argue that when you factor in his significantly lower cap hit + centers being more valuable than wingers, that Lindholm for Nylander might be an overpay for the Flames, even with the extra moving parts here.

-Big overpay for Peeke - keep Minten & Timmins, send the picks, call it a day.

-Anaheim is still rebuilding - why are they giving up any sort of draft pick for two players that have not shown any ability to stay healthy? This is a cap dump trade, and Nick Robertson has definitely lost a lot of value at this point, so there has to be a 1st rounder coming with them if you expect Anaheim to send back a 3rd.

I completely agree that buying Murray out is the most sensible way for the Maple Leafs to go with Murray. (I'm willing to bet my house that's why they allowed Samsonov to file for arbitration.) I just wanted to make the point that packaging him with Robertson isn't getting him off Toronto's books.

Just going by what Freidman and other "insiders" have reported. I also didn't realize Peeke was valued so low.
