Description

So basically, it would end up being a three-way trade but with just two teams. If Nylander wants the $10M, hand it to him. Anaheim being like $8M below the cap floor would be an ideal trade candidate for this. They eat $5M of the presumed $10M contract, and Toronto gives them the incentive to do it. I’d do it.

Hirvonen, Niemela, a 3rd, 4th and 5th to retain $5M for 8 years?? Its gonna take A LOTTTT more for that. Not to mention trading a player to a team and trading him back to the same team usually has a 12 month delay (same thing happened with DeAngelo and CAR).

There is zero chance in any reality that Anaheim retains 5 mil for 8 years especially with all of their contracts ending during that time frame which is going to present cap trouble to begin with. No NHL team would do that
