Gotta give you credit; this is one of the more interesting ideas I've seen on here. SJ would essentially be paying 11.5m to Chabot and Karlsson combined, but for a much younger player

Yeah no cap difference for either team so it's nice and easy on the books

    Really?

Doesn't fit with the Sharks. SJ needs another LDman like a hole in the head. SJ should prefer the picks+prospects+cap space.

Make it a 3-way trade then, I'm sure you can get that package for a 25 year old #1 D that's locked up for 5 more years. Ottawa would never trade him, but this is just for fun

No-brainer for them to buy him out. Would save them 2.6M which they'll need to sign sammy

Leafs will find a trade for Murray. They can't afford the cap hit this year or next. Maybe the next team buys him out though

Yeah but far from ideal... Are we going all in and try to win in the next 3 years? Then just rebuild again?

Left and right I see Sens fans trading younger players for older players, sometimes UFA to be in a year

Dorion has really messed up people tears of joy

The core of this team is locked up and the right age for unparalled success. As long as you don't mess with that too much, we're in good shape

That's what you're doing here though by trading Chabot for a player who might not have long of great play left (injuries)

Sens will never actually trade Chabot. Too important to the lockerroom. But his play is certainly expendable, especially now that they have Sanderson, Chychrun and Kleven who are all younger

His 2-way game became underrated because of coaching and linemates. Keep in mind, he mostly played with Zaitsev

His xGF% has been over 50% when paired with Hamonic, Chychrun, Zub, Holden and Brannstrom. That's what matters in the long run. He needs the right partner under the right coaching staff

He's clearly not as dynamic offensively as he used to be. Not a threat at all on the powerplay. Sanderson has surpassed him in every aspect. Still a very good player

Chabot is not a PP QB, he is a play driver at ES. having both and Chabot is awesome. If Chychrun is good at RD, then we're golden for a long time. Ideally a guy like Kleven could be good on RD too and play with Chabot
